Lucinda's P.O.V.

"Y/n and Gene have been gone for quite a while now, don't you think?" Katelyn spoke after taking the last sip of her drink and placing the blue crystal glass near the pile of colourful plates.

"Kawaii~Chan can go try to find them to make sure everything is okay." Kawaii~Chan suggested.

"It's okay Kawaii~Chan. I bet they just went off to make out somewhere." I wiggled my eyebrows at them.

"I don't know Lucinda. Y/n really tensed up when Gene showed up." Aphmau pointed out, "Do you think everything is okay between them?"

"Now that you mention it, she kinda looked like she was about to cry." Katelyn replied.

"She said something about his hands being really cold. Maybe that's why?" I suggested.

"If I don't come back..." she said before she left. The fact that she whispered it was strange enough but the whole sentence just makes me wonder what she meant. Could she be in danger? Why was she so tense around him? I wonder...

"We should get going." I interrupted the discussion that was going on while I was thinking.

"What about Y/n?" Katelyn asked.

"I'll pay for her and take her stuff. One of you should text her and tell her that we'll be going to my house now, although she should already know this." I said.

"What if she comes back?"

"Something tells me she's not going to be back."

Silence.

"That was really ominous, Lucinda." Aphmau spoke up.

"Really? I meant that they probably went off somewhere to do more than just making out."

"Lucindaaaaa ewwww. Don't say stuff like that." Katelyn said before she made gagging noises.

"That's not even what I meant! And I always say things like this! You should be used to it by now." I laughed.

"Lets just go."

Your P.O.V.

We finally reached home. I was about to unlock the door when I realised I left my bag with the girls at the cafe.

"Shit." I cursed.

"What?" Gene asked.

"I left my stuff in the cafe. My keys were there too."

"Just ring the doorbell."

"I just hope Dante is at home."

I rang the doorbell. We instantly heard barks from the other side of the door. Zuri. A couple of seconds later we heard the door being unlocked and it swung open to reveal Dante holding the Moscow Watchdog pup so we could walk inside. Travis was standing at the end of the hall.

"Hey--" Dante looked up. He froze when he saw Gene walk inside after me.

"Hello Dante. And Travis." Gene greeted them as he closed the door and locked it. Dante was now visibly shaking and Travis just looked like he was having his third mental breakdown of the day. Which probably was true considering he got dragged into this shitty drama.

"B-b-but you... you died..." Dante spoke up.

"Unfortunately." Gene replied, "What? Have you already been making moves on my girl?"

"N-no." Dante looked up at me. Then I remembered the kiss from before I left the house to go shopping. Perhaps he has. But I don't think that's really important now and can stay between us.

"Okay. Well stop looking like you're about to evaporate and make me some decent food. I haven't eaten anything besides porrige and fruits for the last three weeks." Gene walked past them and made his way into the kitchen.

"Y/n..." Dante whispered, "what the hell just happened?"

"I don't know. He just found me in the mall, chased me home and now wants to talk." I explained.

"He has a completely different aura about him."

"I noticed. I just want to know what happened."

"Hey," his voice got even more quiet, "can we not mention the kiss please? I don't feel like dying tonight."

"Sure thing Dante." I replied and followed Gene into the kitchen. Travis was already there and had started to cook some spaghetti. For Gene I'm assuming. Not for us.

"So uh..." I took a deep breath and looked over at Gene, "you have a lot of explaining to do."

Two hours later we had finally come to the bottom of this whole thing. Gene explained that my father had told him that the nurse had actually injected him with some strange stuff that apparently closed up and healed his wounds but as a side effect left him confused and unable to move around properly for a while but in the end he finally started to feel okay. That explains how Gene was able to recover in the space of three weeks and could keep up with me when I ran from him. But was that also the reason why he was so cold and looked dead on the inside? The strange stuff belonged to my father who, it turns out, was involved in some sort of experiments or something. He wanted to save Gene for the sole purpose of making him be the one to kill me and the death threat was actually written by Gene who was just scared for his life. He claimed that he didn't intend on doing anything like that and wanted to come find me to explain.

After my father threatened him, he let him leave and he went to find my brother to ask what has been happening and also explain the situation to him. David had brought him up to speed with the recent events that had taken place. Then he found me in the mall but told me to run because he noticed my father in one of the cars near the shopping centre and didn't want him to find out that Gene was actually still completely sane and just going along with the old man's plans to avoid unnecessary drama.

"Damn that's complicated." Travis sighed at the end of that story.

"Yeah but it will be over soon." Gene said.

"What do you mean?"

"David is thinking of a way to get rid of Y/n's father. Now that he knows where she is we'll kinda be living in constant fear unless we move away. So David is taking matters into his own hands."

"It's all my fault." I blurted out.

"No it's not." Gene placed a hand on my shoulder. Now his hands were a little warmer than before. Maybe he was just cold because of the weather? It's October after all.

"I should have listened to everyone before this got out of hand."

"It's okay Y/n. You didn't know."

"I..." I started crying again, "I tried to kill people, Gene. I don't deserve to get away with this and continue to live a happy life."

"Don't say that. No one can choose their parents. It's not your fault your father is an absolute asshole. None of this would have happened if it wasn't for him."

Gene pulled me closer and just held me for a bit. I realised Dante and Travis had left the kitchen. Now that Gene had explained all this stuff I felt like I could trust him more.

"Why don't you just take a bubble bath and relax for a while?" Gene suggested, "I'll make you some tea."

"Okay. Thank you." I pulled away from him and made my way upstairs to the bathroom.

Guess who should probably go to sleep now? That's right. Me. But also probably some of you too.
