The Moonlings: The Ancient Fortress

The next few months fell into a normal pattern. Every few months they tried to rebuild the village again and it always got burnt down again. Eventually, they decided that it must be cursed and so they stopped trying to rebuild. The moonlings seemed to unofficially take sides for and against the humans. Some thought that the humans were trying to help. Others still thought the humans were absolutely evil and wanted to kill them. Misty woke up every morning and avoided a few pranks from Aqua and Ember who had started a store called Ultimate Pranks and were making a lot of moonlets. They had a fake tree branch that exploded with confetti, a pine cone that always fell on your head, and a sticky leaf. All the moonlings learned human. It wasn't that hard except for the pronunciation. Ava was a really good teacher. Misty spent a lot of time in the library, a very interesting place. There was a library back at the Moonling village but this one had human books. They were a bit hard to read but Fern helped her. Usually, Willa cooked food for the Moonlings but when she was busy Titania cooked and she was not very good. The only thing she knew how to make was moosh pancakes and she wasn't very good at that. After the first few months of living with humans, a problem came up. The Moonlings could not stay with the humans forever and they couldn't rebuild their homes so they didn't have anywhere to live. One day when Misty and Fern were reading in the library, Fern started shouting. "Look what I found! It says here in this book something about an ancient Moonling kingdom!" Misty's head shot up. She felt eager and surprised. Living with the humans had been stressing out the relationship between the humans and the moonlings. If they could find a moonling home it would prevent a lot of fighting. "What? It does! We need to tell everybody!" The girls ran out of the library and quickly went to Shimmerstone. "We found...a Moonling ...ancient kingdom!" "Where is it?" replied Shimmerstone. "Well, actually we don't know," said Fern. "How can you find something if you don't know where it is?" "Fern found it in a book" answered Misty. "OK, did she also find instructions on how to get there?" "Yes no" replied Fern. "What do you mean?" "The book said we need to find a clue to the map to the fortress". Shimmerstone said, "Someone really didn't want this place to be found. Misty, you better get your siblings and start looking. Fern, you should help them".
