The Moonlings: The Ancient Fortress

Chapter 16

"You" hissed Willa looking angry, confused, and shocked at the same time. Then she blinked several times and ran out of the room. Misty stuck her head out of the doorway and saw Willa and Shimmerstone emerge from another room down the hall. They whispered together for a few minutes before Willa came back in and asked " Which one of you was carrying the containment crystal?" Everybody looked at Misty. "I was," she said nervously. All of a sudden Misty felt something come over her. The evil Moonling in the crystal left. Misty felt the urge to attack her friends. Then she realized the evil Moonling must be mind-controlling her. The last thing she remembered was jumping towards Shimmerstone who had just entered the room. Then everything went black.

Willa sent a stunning spell at Misty as she started to attack Shimmerstone. She grabbed Misty and tried to pull her to another room. "Can I have a little help here?" she grunted and Crater came over to help her lift Misty. They hurried into another room and Willa explained what had happened. She said the evil Moonling, Shadow, was her brother and how he had been corrupted by something in the cave. She added that he had the power to corrupt other Moonlings and that is probably what happened to Titania and now Misty. "There is a way to fix it. It is a really complicated spell and it might result in Misty not having any magic, but it is better than this" said Willa. As she cast the spell, Misty started glowing. A strange purple mist rose from her head and absorbed into her chest. "What just happened?" asked Crater, amazed. "I think her center of magic just moved," said Willa. "Could you say it in Moonling?" asked Aqua. "You know how the first Moonlings were created?" said Willa. "They were just normal foxes who drank from a magical spring with small bits of elemental crystals dissolved in the water. Each Moonling still has a bit of that crystal in them. That is what allows us to use our powers. The crystal inside of us is known as our center of magic. Depending on where it is, it orients our magic differently. It changes how we think and our personalities. Because Misty's moved you should expect her to be different. Possibly she will be less distracted, more focused, less of a head in the clouds type Moonling, less thoughtful, and more compulsive." explained Willa.
