The Moonlings: The Ancient Fortress

Over the next few days, they watched Titania and Shadow closely. They watched from the walls of the fortress and from behind nearby buildings. One afternoon, Misty was watching Shadow from the fortress wall. Her watch was almost over when she spotted Shadow leaving the house he was staying in. He was talking quietly to himself so she adjusted the wind so she could hear better. She heard him say, "Pretty soon all the Moonling magic will be under my control. Only Moonlings who say I'm their ruler will have any powers left." Misty was shocked to find that he wanted to control all Moonlings. She thought he would use the power for himself but this was just pure evil. She hurried back to her friends and told them the news. "That explains why our magic isn't working," said Crater. "Yeah, and he and Titania must be using all the power of the crystal right now," said Sunny, "which means they're going to be hard to stop." "Sunny, I think it's time to use your plan," said Crater. "We need more information and we can't get it from the wall. I'll go out tonight and see if I can find where he hides the crystal." They waited until it was dark so Crater could use his shadow power. His power let him turn into a shadow. Instead of being a real moonling, he would look like the shadow of a moonling, which allowed him to hide easier. Also, no one could touch him when he was a shadow because you cannot touch shadows. That made it easier for him to spy up close. He went to the white crystal and followed Shadow back to his house, all the while transformed into a shadow. He saw Shadow put the crystal in a small, carved-out hole in the rock. Then he put a lid on the hole and you could barely see it. When Shadow had left the room, Crater went over and picked up the crystal. When he touched it, he shivered and he recognized what type of crystal it was. It was the type of crystal that drained your magic and replaced it with evil. They would have to act quickly when switching them out. He dropped the crystal back in its hole as fast as he could and put the lid back on. Then he hurried out of the door as Titania came in and went back to his friends. He quickly told them the information he had gathered and said, "We have to act quickly. He's almost completely corrupted the white crystal." They decided they would take action the next night.
