Lexie's first solo surgery was tommorow and she couldn't wait.
She had been begging Derek for a solo surgery the day she got her dark blue scrubs. So when he said yes, she couldn't be anymore but excited.
She wanted moral support. So she asked everyone if they could come.
First up Meredith, "Sorry Lex, can't make it, pre-rounds." Meredith looked at her sad little sister, "Are you sure you can't come?" Lexie asked again. Meredith shook her head in silence.
Maybe George? After all they are best friends, "Sorry, I can't make it Lexie, I'm on call till 7" Cristina? No can't be her, she'll probably not even care. Everyone else she knew was busy. Expect Mark.
Wait what? No can't be him. He just broke up with Julia. But, it's just a surgery. Right? Yeah, that's not gonna be awkward. Lexie nervously dialed Mark's number.
"Little Grey?" Mark said
"Shit", Lexie thought, what was she gonna do?
"H- Hi M- Mark" Lexie said nervously, "Do you think you can make it to my first solo surgery?"
"Of course Lex, anything for you" He said happily. Lexie's face turns bright red at his comment.
"Ok Thanks!" She said nervously. "Bye!" Lexie said quickly and hung up before Mark could even say anything. She slumped herself on the couch and contemplated for a few minutes before turning in the TV and watching the Bachelorette.
Mark looked at a specific phone contact for awhile, "Lexie 💖". He wanted to call her back but he knew she was probably watching the Bachelorette and didn't want to bother her. He went off to bed later that night.
BEEP BEEP BEEP! (me trying to make alarm noises)
It was the day. Lexie woke up with happiness. Today was her solo surgery and she couldn't wait. She got ready and scrubbed in. When she got up to the OR, she saw the one person only able to make it. Mark.
She flashed a smile. It was a moment. It was happy. It was like joyous news. (iconic lexie line btw)
All of the sudden, Stephanie ran into the OR, "Edwards, did you run all the way over here?" She was out of breath, "Sorry, Dr. Grey, didn't want to miss your surgery." Lexie was able to get her scrubbed in, "Well get ready, I need my intern today, ok?" Stephanie nodded and the surgery began.
After the surgery
"Congrats, Little Grey. Your first big surgery well done." Mark said as Lexie scrubbed out.
Lexie was total geeking out. Did Mark like her?
"Listen Lex, do you want maybe go out?" Mark asked. She quickly turned around, frozen in place. Lexie was scrambling to figure out what to say to him.
"Of course! I- I mean yeah sure." Mark smiled, he liked Lexie especially when he knew she was

That night
Mark knocked on Lexie's apartment door in a button up shirt and jeans. Lexie opened the door. Mark was mesmerized by her beauty.
She wore a blue off-the-shoulder mini dress with her purse on her side. Mark could just stare at her forever
(ok im gonna go off on from 2 different writing styles so prepare for the book to look weird)
Lex: Mark, are you there?
Mark didn't even realize he was spacing out, "Um yeah, let's um get going I guess" he said
After the date
Lexie: You can just drop me off, it's fine-
Mark cut her off by a kiss. "Mark, we can't" she said sadly
Mark: Lexie, I love you!
Lexie: You just broke up with Julia.
Mark: I know but I love you a lot Lexie, do you maybe want to go out with me?
Mark's face was red, but then Lexie kissed him again.
Lexie: Of course I'll go out with you
That night Lexie didn't come home, worrying George. George knew she probably was just sleeping the night at his house. But he wanted make sure.
George: Lexie where are you?
Lexie: Calm down, I'm staying with Mark tonight.
George: Ok fine! But we have to get up at 4am tommorow!
Lexie: I know! I know! I'm going to remember
In the morning
Lexie woke up in Mark's bed. Did they do it? Again? "Mark!" she whisper-yelled at him. When Mark woke up, they both looked at each other and took a moment to realize what had happened. Lexie grabbed her phone and checked the time.
Time: 6:02 am
Lexie panicked, "Mark, wake up! We are late!"
"Shit!, um let's hurry. I can drive you" he said in a groggy voice. He was half awake and needed to hurry.
They get ready as fast as they can. George was right, Lexie thought. She should've just gone home, and just not slept with Mark.
She was so upset at herself. When they arrived at the hospital, they are quickly greeted by Meredith.
Meredith: Where have you 2 been? You guys are so late. Were you guys-
They quickly silently nod.
Meredith: Wow okay, I mean as long as you guys are happy. But damn, you guys were in action for quite awhile
Lexie: Shut up Mer!
Meredith smirked and laughed away. She was glad that her little sister was happy. But, imagining her in bed was quite the weird thought.
Mark and Lexie scrubbed in and went on about with their day.
