A year ago at the Sinclair's Families New Year party.
"Alessio meet my our new business partner Mr.Robert Cortiano." Mr. Giovanni Sinclair said as he properly introduced Alessio to Robert.
Every year the wealthy Sinclair family typically holds a big New year party and welcome all their new business partners and politely introduces them to their old partners. A typical type of bonding method.
"It is nice to meet you Mr.Cortiano." Alessio said as he promptly extended his hand out to shake Roberts. Then Alessio naturally raises his amber filled glass in Mr. Robert's direction inviting him to the family. "Welcome to the family."
Robert Cortiano has recently joined hands with the Sinclair mafia family as their new arms dealer. While Alessio has been Giovanni's old friend and business partner. All three of them legitimately belonged to old money, naturally meaning they all had their own empire for generation after generation.
They all laughed as they all raised their own whiskey filled glass up in eachothers direction and downed it. "Thank you so much Mr.Masello. I heard a lot about you from Giovanni."
"I sincerely hope it's all good stuff." Alessio chuckled.
"Oh it's more than good. Oh we both know you are the best in what you do." Robert added as he glanced at Giovanni and then back at Alessio. "It must be tough running the Casino chains all alone." Robert inquired eagerly.
Alessio just smiled up at him and shrugged his shoulder before stopping the near by waiter and exchanging his empty glass with a new one. "Nothing is easy in our complex world Mr.Cortiano. I bet you know it, after all you are our main supplier now."
"Oh please call me Robert; we are family now." Robert insisted earnestly.
"Only if you call me Alessio." Alessio replied back with a smile. They both laughed and continued to talk about their upcoming events and deals.
After two pleasant hours or so Alessio excused himself from the party as he stepped out in the private terrace. He just wanted to make a quick phone call, check how everything was going on with Aria back home. It has been two days since Aria has been sick with a stomach bug. And as a father he was worried for his dear daughter. He hated the idea of leaving sick and coming out to attend the party which was two hours away from his house. But Aria insisted that she was feeling much better now and he should go to the party. After arguing for an hour or so Alessio finally gave up and decided to attend the party.
He pulled his phone from his suit pocket and dialed Aria's cell number. She answered the call right away making him smile. "Hey pumpkin, how are you feeling?" Alessio asked in a gentle tone, the one he had only reserved only for his precious daughter.
"I am feeling much better dad." Aria's sweet voice replied over the mobile phone.
"Did you take you meds?" Alessio promptly asked as he walked absently farther ahead. The breezy night was cold and quite.
"Yes dad I took and had the chicken soup too. I am feeling much better now, you can relax and enjoy the party." Aria politely informed him in her cheerful tone.
"Okay, okay I will pumpkin, take care. Love you." Alessio said as he glanced up at the sky. There were only few stars visible with the naked eyes, making it so beautiful.
"Love you too dad, take care." Aria said as she ended the call.
Alessio sighed with contentment as he pulled his cigar out planning to enjoy a peaceful smoke before heading back in. But stopped when a soft cry came from somewhere down below him. The sacred sound grew louder by the passing second, and he instantly moved his gaze around, trying to find the cause. When the screeching sound echoed once again, he realised it wasn't coming from a person but from a sacred cat more like a kitten.
Naturally thinking the kitten might be stuck somewhere or is in need of some help he went back into the hall and down the step to the foyer. He stepped out through the main entrance as he glanced around. The poor kitten was still crying and as Alessio moved farther to the left he notices the scared kitten was stuck up on a tree.
"Hey kitty, it's okay I got you don't worry, come here." A deep masculine voice said as Alessio caught a silhouette of a man.
The stranger cautiously climbed up the old tree and carefully rescued the kitten form up there.
"I got you, its okay." The stranger said eagerly trying to calm the adorable kitten but the kitten continued to cry. The stranger then carefully climbed down the tree and quickly removed his suit jacket before carefully wrapping the poor kitten with it. "You are so cute and tiny, what were you doing up there?" The man gently asked the kitten in a cooing sound as he rubbed his hand over the kittens head.
Alessio quietly observed the stranger taking care of the kitten. He had no idea who he was or what he was doing her at the Sinclair's New Year party. So he moved carefully back into shadow and continued to observe the man. The way the stranger was cooing and adoring the little kitten made him wonder even more who he was and what he was doing here.
It took few minutes before the kitten finally stopped crying and started to purr under the strangers touch.
Alessio continued watching the beautiful exchange in front of his eyes. He noticed how the stranger carefully placed the kitten under his arm and walked in the direction of the back entrance. And without thinking Alessio followed the stranger carefully.
The stranger reached the back kitchen door and stopped one of the waiter and handed him some cash from his wallet before telling him something. The attentive waiter looked down at the wrapped up suit jacket and then back the stranger and then at the money in his hand.
It only took one second, for the waiter to make the decision. He pocketed the cash as he headed back into the kitchen.
While the waiter was gone the stranger moved to the grass area and sat down on the cold, wet grass without thinking for a single second. Alessio noticed how the stranger made sure the kitten was warmed and wrapped up properly.
The waiter arrived back a minutes later with two disposable bowl - one on each hand. He carefully lowered them down in front of the stranger and then said something before heading back in.
Alessio stood there for the next twenty minutes observing the stranger feed and play with the kitten. He was intrigued by the stranger and decided to know more about him. So he instantly pulled his mobile phone out and carefully clicked the strangers photo. The lighting was sufficient for him to get a clear image. And once he was done he slowly headed back in to the party.
