Aria took in a deep breath before starting her speech. "I know our marriage is not like any other marriages Matteo. We didn't date for months or go on long night drives with each other talking about nothing and everything. Neither did we celebrated our birthdays together or got the chance to surprise each other with gifts. But one thing I know and I promise you is that," Aria swallowed the lump in her throat before starting again. "I , Aria Masello will give my hundred percent in our marriage. I will try my best to be the best wife and partner in the marriage."
Matteo stood there hearing each and single word Aria was saying. After yesterday, he too was hoping if he.. if they could have a real marriage. Not the one everyone accepted them to have. He wanted her to be his wife and not a lifeless soul who obeyed him and followed him everywhere he went. He wanted to say he too wants to promise to be the husband she deserved but the words, the promise didn't come easy for him. Deep down he still believed he could never have a happy married life, a wife he adored and a family he would come back to everyday after work. Cause nothing was normal in his life, he was a mob underboss getting married to mafia princess in order to step up. That was his reality and nothing was going to change it. Cause his life was not that simple.
Just tell her....tell and see...give her a chance... maybe she.....she is different.... The voices in his head kept pushing him to say something but his years and years of self control was keeping him in check.
"Also I will genuinely like to apologise for all the troubles I caused you previously. But that all stops now. I just hope we could start fresh." Aria ended her speech, giving a new hope to their marriage. They both stayed quite, no one uttered a single word after that.
Matteo was deep in his though, contemplating if he should also tell her that he was already considering the marriage real or at least some part of it. Or if he should be just stay quiet and let it be.
Aria started biting her lips, a nervous habit of hers that was running her lipstick. "Matteo, are you there?"
Unable to stop himself a small smile slipped on Matteo's face. "Yes, princess I am here and yes I heard it all."
And.....she wondered.. was he ready to give their marriage a chance too.
"Aria thank you for giving our marriage a chance. I too will try my best from here on." Matteo rarely used Aria's real name but for some reason it slipped along with his true emotions. Although he wanted to add more, promise her more but he stopped himself. One step at a time.
"Thank you." Aria whispered.
"Now if you would allow me, I think I should be down at the wedding altar waiting for my future wife."
And just like that they both were okay, or maybe they were more than okay.

The wedding ceremony started as the sun began to descent. The entire backyard of the RR hotel was covered in white rose petals. The strong rays of the sun were piercing though the clouds making the sky look like a piece of artwork. The evening wind picked up its pace causing the guest on either side of the aisle to cover themselves up thin jackets. It was all beautiful and romantic, something out of a fairytale.
Matteo wore black tuxedo as he patiently waited right next to the priest for his wife-to-be to enter. Just behind him Mario stood as his best man. With a soft bang the orchestra started, announcing the entry of the bride.
