Naruto Oneshots (X Reader)

shikamaru: hop on

Setting: In the forest
- A short fluff oneshot for today :))

You were running around in the forest trying to train your shuriken accuracy while moving. It seemed like you got off on the wrong foot (quite literally) and you felt a sharp pain in your ankle. You wince and fall to the ground. Your ankle throbs, and you take deep breaths.

'I'm used to these,' you think, 'The pain will go away soon, then I'll go back home.'

Shikamaru was sent to collect you for a mission, but he couldn't see any movement in the forest. He was scanning the area slowly, and he heard a wince from behind a bush.

Assuming you were hurt because of another reason, he sent his shadows around the area, paralyzing you in the moment.

You couldn't move. Your ankle hurt more by the second, and you couldn't put pressure on it to relieve it. You wince even louder, tears prickling your eyes. Shikamaru comes from behind the bush and immediately retracts his jutsu.

"Oh, sorry, Y/N. I thought you were in battle or something. What happened?"

You take a sharp inhale, "Sh-Shikamaru? I um, sprained my ankle. Badly."

He crouches down in front of you, only several inches away from your face. The closer he gets, the darker your red face becomes. He was so attractive, and you didn't know why. Back in the academy, you didn't like Sasuke. Instead, you liked the laziest boy in the class.

"Let me take a look at it," he says.

You nod and try extending your leg out to him while he supports the foot weight to suppress the pain. He examines your ankle for a bit before declaring, "We need to get you to the hospital."

You shake your head, "I-I'm used to sprains! This is nothing, just give it time and I'll be up and ready!"

He raises an eyebrow, "This isn't any ordinary sprain, Y/N. This needs medical attention," he leans closer to your face, "And it looks like you have a fever too."

He touches your forehead, and you almost faint. Come on, Y/N! Why are you acting like Hinata?

"U-Uh, I'm fine!! Really!" you insist.

"What a drag... I'd let you rest in your own time, but Lady Tsunade gave us a mission, so we need you healed like... right now," he replies.

He turns around and gets on one knee with his hands in place for a piggy-back ride. You didn't realize.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Hop on," he says.

You become a flustered mess, "N-no! I-I can't, but I can get up right no- Ah!" you gasp as you try to get up by yourself, but your ankle gave out.

"Why are you acting so weird, Y/N? Come on, Sakura can treat it," he says one last time.

You sigh in defeat and limp over to him. You mount him, and he hoists you up. With your arms around him and the warmth radiating between you two, you couldn't feel any better. The pain in your ankle subsided.

There's a silence between you two for a bit, and you tried your best to say thank you, but you ending up saying, "T-thanks..." inaudibly.

"Eh? What did you say?" he asks.

"Th-Thank you..." you spoke up.

He shakes his head with a smile on his face, "Heh. Troublesome woman."
