Chapter 2

I walked into the familiar house, it smelled of blueberry muffins, Emily must have been cooking again. I had been hanging out with what my school called 'The La Push Gang' ever since they left. They treated me like one of their own, when they went on what they called 'patrols' I spent my day with Emily, or sometimes Leah would stay behind and we would talk all day cuddling on the couch. "Honey, I'm home" I called my voice traveling throughout the house. I started to take off my shoes when Quil came darting towards me then behind me. "Hide me" he whispered ducking below my shoulders. I laughed lightly then immediately stopped when an angry looking Sam came storming into the room with what looked to be raw egg in his hair. He scanned the room and smiled when he spotted me. "Hello Izzy, have you seen Quil?" his voice was kind but still with an undertone of anger. "Nope!" I said popping the P at the end. He nodded then walked into a different room continuing his hunt for the younger boy. As he disappeared Quil came out from behind me and smiled. "I owe ya one Iz." he spoke quickly as he slipped out the door. I giggled then walked to the kitchen spotting Emily with an apron on, flower covering the front of it and some on her face, her scar clearly visible but I was used to it by now;it was a part of her, and that made it beautiful. "Hey there Izzy" she greeted as she put more muffins in the oven. I smiled sitting down at the breakfast bar in the kitchen. "Hey there Em, cooking again?" I teased lightly. "You know the boys, they act like they've never seen food before." I laughed lightly as she put a muffin in front of me on a plate. I thanked her and began eating my muffin. I heard the front door open and shuffling and laughing, the boys were back. Which meant that Leah was back to. I bounced in my seat excitedly. I quickly finished my muffin and got up just in time to be scooped up into the familiar arms of Leah. I giggled as she spun me around in the air. I heard the boys fake gagging as they entered the room. She put me down and hugged me as I stuck my tongue out at the boys. "Be nice to your sisters" I heard Emily scold them lightly as she placed a plate full of muffins on the table. I watched as the boy's eyes lit up. They all rushed to the table and started stuffing their faces full of muffins. Leah kissed my cheek and rushed over to the table to get some muffins before the boys ate them all. I heard the door open again and heard heavy footsteps. I felt my hair get ruffled and smiled. "Hey there Isa." Jacob greeted then headed over to get some muffins too.  "Hi Jake." I responded happily then walked over to help Emily clean up. I heard the sound of wrestling outside and laughed lightly, it seemed that Sam had found Quil. I heard the door open and Sam an Quil taking off their shoes and laughing. I walked over to the microwave pulling out another plate of muffins Emily had hid from the rest of the boys and Leah. I sat them down on the breakfast bar just as the two boys entered the kitchen. "Hey boys, I saved you some muffins" "Thanks Bells-" Everyone froze hearing Quil's slip up. I froze as memories of them filled my head. I whimpered wrapping my arms around my chest as the hole that they had left behind flared. It felt like I was going to fall apart. I heard Leah growl at Quil and rush over pulling me into her. "Shhh Isa you're okay. Shhh" she soothed me as she wrapped her arms around me pulling me closer to her. I breathed her scent in, it made the pain in my chest lessen until it was gone. I relaxed in her arms as my breathing returned to it's normal pace. "Sorry" I heard Quil speak lightly, his voice was filled with guilt. "Your okay Quil." I said as sincerely as I could. Leah growled at him and I flicked her nose lightly. "He didn't mean to, and he apologized. Be nice" She huffed and everyone laughed, the atmosphere returned back to normal. We talked and laughed, enjoying each other's company, until we heard a deafening howl outside. It somehow sounded panicked. I saw the boys and Leah all look at each other. "Emily keep Iz inside." Sam rushed as himself,the boys,and Leah all ran outside. Emily nodded and walked over to me. "What was that about?" I questioned her and she shrugged, although I could see in her eyes that she was hiding something. "Probably just an injured animal." I relaxed slightly until I heard Leah yell in pain. I ran out the back door just in time to see Leah explode into a giant wolf and tackled another giant wolf. I froze my eyes wide. I saw Sam burst into a huge black wolf. I hear the wolf growl loudly and the strange wolf and the wolf that took Leah's spot stop fighting, Both of them bowing their heads. "Isa, you aren't supposed to be out here." I heard Emily say from the doorway. I saw the Leah-wolf looked back, she made eye contact with me and her eyes widened. At the same time the strange wolf and the Sam-wolf looked at me. The strange wolf looked confused why the others were so panicked, Sam's eyes seemed to bulge out of his head. I felt Emily grab my hand and pull me back inside. I let her drag me inside and onto the couch. I sat there eyes wide. I heard the back door open and a few sets of feet came in. I looked over seeing the boys all except Sam walk in. They seemed scared and worried as they eyed me. Like they were waiting for me to run away screaming at any moment. I just sat there and heard the door open again. Leah walked in with her head down the same look on her face as the boys. I got up and walked over to her. I felt eyes on me as I got closer. I hugged Leah tightly and I heard everyone breathe in a sigh of relief. "I love you all, no matter if you turn into giant dogs or not, you're still my family" I spoke with pride and love. I looked to Leah and she smiled brightly and picked me up, spinning me around again. I giggled loudly as Sam and Embry Call walked in. Sam seemed to relax as he saw us. Embry kept his head down kind of shy. Leah sat me down and I glared lightly at Embry. "Hurt Leah again and I'll kick your furry little butt," I paused then smiled "otherwise, welcome to the family" He looked at me and smiled. I chuckled and ruffled his hair.  "Hey, why don't we go to the beach?" I smiled hearing Jacobs' suggestion. We all agreed and got ready to go. I walked out of the bathroom and over to Emily. She was already changed into a bathing suit the boys and Leah seemed to be missing. "Come on then." Emily said excitedly as she grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door. We walked out and saw a group of wolves. I smiled recognizing Leah, Sam and Embry. I studied the others recognizing them by eye color or personality. I walked over to Leah and stroked her fur. I heard a weird sound that sounded like a laugh before a huge tongue licked my face covering half of it with saliva. "Ew Leah! That's so gross" I heard a few of the other wolves laughing. I bopped her lightly on the nose. She huffed and laid down and gestured to her back. I blushed lightly, she wanted me to ride her. I got up onto her back. I held onto the longer fur on the back of her neck as she stood. I squealed lightly in surprise. I looked around and spotted Emily on Sam's back. She seemed a bit tense, I decided to ask her about it later. I watched her get as close to Sam as possible. Then Sam took off running followed by the others. I copied Emily's movements and as soon as I was pressed into Leah's back she took off running. They ran in a pattern like geese, with Sam in the front, Jacob to the right of him, Paul to the left and so on. At the end was Quil and Embry they were the last to shift so it made sense they ran in the back. We reached the beach in record time due to the speed of the wolves. We stopped before the treeline with enough cover that the pack could shift back. Leah laid down as did Sam to let us off. I got off, as I swung my leg off my foot caught a rock and I started to fall. I closed my eyes waiting for impact when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and pulled me back to my feet. I turned to thank whoever caught me and immediately started blushing and turned back around. Leah was the one to catch me and due to her shifting so quickly to do so, she didn't have time to put on the clothes that she had tied to her ankle. I walked to Emily and grabbed her hand, my face still red, "We'll meet you guys there." I spoke quickly. Emily giggled as I dragged her to the beach. It was one of the rare days here. The sun was shining brightly, there were no clouds as far as the eyes could see. I smiled soaking in the sun and sighed. "I missed the sun." I spoke aloud to no one in particular. "Just wait until we get into the water, it should be pretty warm." I heard the excitement in Emily's voice. I heard footsteps approaching us. I turned expecting to see the boys, it wasn't them. It was a group of some of my friends from school. I smiled warmly at Angela. It had been a while since I had talked to her. In school I pretty much just ignored everyone until the day was over. Then I would leave and hang out at Emily's then around dinner we head to Billy's where we meet up with my dad for dinner. "Long time no see, Bella" Lauren spoke coldly. I flinched at my old nickname. I felt Emily put a hand on my shoulder and I relaxed. As Emily moved I noticed everyone's attention shifted to her. Some of them gasped while others made a face in shock, surprise, or disgust. I felt Emily hide behind me. She didn't like people staring at her, I growled out of habit lightly in warning. The attention shifted back to me "Did you just growl?" Mike questioned. I could see the lust in his eyes, I shuddered in disgust. "It's rude to stare." I stated simply. I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. I immediately recognised Leah's scent and relaxed. By the light chorus of growl behind me I could tell Sam and the others had joined us. I watched as all the girl's eyes widened, with the exception of Angela, as they eyed up the boys. I noticed Ben standing close to Angela. While Tyler, Mike and Eric sizing up the boys as if they were seeing if there was any possibility of them winning if a fight broke out. There wasn't. "Are they bothering you Iz?" Leah spoke lowly a bit of possessiveness leaked into her voice. I smiled and shook my head, "No, they're just some friends from school. Guys this is Angela, Ben,Tyler,Mike, Eric,Lauren, and Jessica" I introduced them. They waved as their respective names were spoken. I heard the pack muttering hellos and different greetings. There was an awkward silence for a moment before I heard one of the boys, probably Quil, yell out, "Last one to the water is a rotten egg!" I heard him take off running and laughed as the others quickly chased after him. I muttered a quick goodbye to my school friends and ran after the boys keeping up pretty well, for a human. As we got to the water I quickly dove in, swimming out a ways into the water and popping up out of the water like one of those swimsuit models. I heard a few gasps from the shore and a few mutters. I laughed as I looked at the boys. It seemed that in the end, Sam was the rotten egg. I smiled until I felt something lift me up out of the water. I squealed loudly as I was thrown through the air and back into the water. When I resurfaced I saw Leah laughing loudly. I huffed lightly and swam over to her then tackling her. We both fell in the water, as we resurfaced both of us were laughing. She splashed water at me and I splashed some back, which caused a huge water fight. I laughed as we played in the water. I felt safe, I felt loved, being surrounded by the ones I called my family. I gazed around and spotted something in the distance. It was orange like fire on the water. I shrugged it off, it was probably just the sun glaring off the water. I went back to playing with my family and the fire on the water was long forgotten.
