Chapter 3

It had almost been a year since they left. I was dreading the upcoming date of my birthday. I sighed lightly to myself, I noticed that Angela looked up at me. I shook my head and went back to paying attention to the teacher. After a while the bell rang. I quickly packed up my binder pencil, and notebook into my bag and rushed out the door. I heard Angela laugh behind me, I didn't care, I was excited. Leah said she had a surprise for me, I still didn't like surprises but it was from Leah so it couldn't be that bad. I rushed out of the school and saw Leah leaning on my truck. I squealed loudly and ran to her, she laughed and picked me up spinning me in a circle. I giggled loudly, I noticed a lot of people staring at us. I blushed as she put me down and hugged me, "People are staring at us" I whispered lightly, "Let them stare." I rolled my eyes and laughed. "I missed you." "I missed you to Isa." Her voice was filled with affection which caused my previous blush to return. "I got you something, I was going to wait until your birthday but it came early." Leah's voice was filled with excitement. I bounced lightly excited as well. Leah grabbed my hand and pulled me to the other side of my truck. I noticed a crowd of people talking and taking pictures of something. I heard Leah sigh and watched her whistle loudly. Most of the crowd jumped back in surprise others just left in general, I saw the thing that everyone was crowded around. It was a shiny black motorcycle with a bow on it, specifically it was a 2014 Lightning LS-218. I squealed again and practically tackled Leah hugging her tightly. She laughed hugging me back. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" "Your welcome, now, Charlie would kill me if I let you ride it without protection so..." She gently pried herself from my hug and walked over to my truck pulling out a riding helmet and a biking jacket. She held it out and I slipped my arms into the jacket and put the helmet on. It was a bit heavy, but I would get used to it. Leah tossed me the keys to the bike and I tossed her the keys to my truck. I caught the keys at the same time she caught the ones I threw at her. I walked over to the bike and ran my hand over the gas tank. I smiled and got on the bike. I put the key in and started her up. I smiled as I heard it idle. I loved the feeling of it running beneath me, power radiated off of it just sitting at a standpoint. I kicked up the kickstand and reaved the engine. Those who weren't looking before looked over now. I smiled and looked at Leah. She had the window of my truck rolled down. She sat in the driver's seat and smiled over at me. "Ready to go home?" She called over the engine of the bike. I nodded and smiled, "Race ya home!" I called out to her and backed out of the parking spot and tore out of the parking lot. All heads were turned to watch me leave. I giggled loudly as I saw Leah pull out of the parking lot. I smiled and shifted gears and the motorcycle seemed to get louder as it sped up. I smiled, dubbing the bike's name as Bertha. I reached the end of the pavement and saw the few houses on the edge of the res. I slowed down shifting gears again and headed to Emily's. When I got there I revved the engine loudly causing the boys to come running out of the house. I saw their jaws drop when they spotted me on the bike. I put the kickstand down, turned off the engine and took off my helmet shaking out my hair. "Close your mouth boys you'll catch a fly" I stated a bit cocky. Jake was the first to break out of the stupor and walked over to admire the bike. The rest of the boys rushed over to. I laughed and got off the bike and dropped the keys in Jake's hand. "If any of you wreck Bertha I will personally make your life a living h3ll." I stated sweetly before heading inside I took off my shoes and jacket at the door before wandering into the kitchen, I was starving. I smiled when I saw Emily making a huge bowl of scrambled eggs. I walked over and whined like a puppy giving her my best pout. She giggled and gave me some eggs "Here ya go Iz, but don't tell the boys. They'll have a cow." I kissed her cheek walking to the breakfast bar and ate the eggs quickly. When I finished I realized I was still hungry, how strange. I shrugged it off before heading to the living room and sat on the couch. I yawned and leaned back, closing my eyes. I decided to take a quick nap before Leah got home. When I woke I felt really hot, like I was running a fever. I was also shaking and had a pretty bad headache. I wandered into the kitchen looking for Emily when I spotted Leah and Emily chatting at the table. I took a step toward them and my legs gave out. I fell backwards, everything going dark before I heard a panicked Leah "Isa!"
