The Cop and the Criminal’s Silent Kisses

Two more days went by and I kept talking to Drake.  It turns out today was the day that I was going to meet his parents.  I got up usual time and had a shower.  I wanted to dress mature and sensible for them, but then I remembered I could only wear the crappy prisoner clothes.  I still combed my hair and neatened myself up.  I had to make the best impression to Drake’s parents.  They were my only chance.  My parents would not be able to afford bailing me out, no matter how much they wanted to.  Drake’s parents just had to like me, and they would do it.  I need to talk to him, now, before his parents came.

“Drake!” I yelled as I ran over to the cell bars.  “Oh my gosh, does my hair look okay?” he looked concerned and slightly frightened.

“Does it matter?” he told me.  I frowned.  “And don’t worry, you always look gorgeous.”  This was no time for compliments.

“Drake!” I sighed. “Seriously, your parents have to like me, this is the only chance I have” I told him nervously.

“You look fine, really.  And my parents aren’t the royal family, they will probably be just like yours.” He said calmly.  He was right, but I still had to be mature.

“Okay, fine.  But when are they coming?” I asked him, calming down a little.

“Well I talked to the one of the head officers, and he said it was usual for parents to come and visit their children here.  So anytime, as long as we inform him first.” He said.  I took a deep breath, kissed him and told him I would see him later when his parents where here.

About an hour and a half went by and I saw Drake coming down the hall with two people.  I suddenly shot up and out of my bed, ran my fingers down through my hair, brushed myself off and put on a smile.

Drake looked at me and smiled as always, but right now I was interested in his parents.  They looked like the wealthy kind.  His mum wasn’t wearing Chanel sunglasses nor his dad designer jeans, but they looked rich enough.

“Hello dear!  Pleasure to meet you!”  Drake’s mum said to me excitedly.  A nearby police officer opened the cell doors so that we could greet properly.  She quickly came in for a friendly hug.

“You too Miss Williams!”  I told her with a smile.  Mr Williams took out a hand and I shook it, still keeping on that smile.

“My dear, Drake has told us so much about you!  This boys mouth hasn’t been shut at all this week.  It’s all about Abbie Abbie Abbie...” she told me.  Drake gave her a nudge to tell her to stop talking and I laughed.  “It really is a pleasure to meet Drake’s parents, thank you so much for coming here and giving me a chance Mr and Mrs Williams.” I told them.  They smiled and nodded kindly.

Me and Mrs Williams sat awkwardly on my bed, Mr Williams sat on a chair by the bedside table, and Drake stood.  It was extremely embarrassing watching them look around my cell room.  They were probably thinking “Gosh, is this where you live?”

“So, how exactly did you end up in here?” Mr Williams asked me.

“It a bit of a long story.  But I was in my local corner shop getting some things for my mum, and a few girls dropped some shop items into my bag without me knowing as I walked out of the shop.  The shop keeper and police officers did not see the girls do it, so they accused me of shoplifting.  With all the nerves going on inside my body, I tried to run but they still caught me.  So I er...punched the officer in the face.”  I said, embarrassingly.  They looked taken aback.

“Oh!  Well er, how do you know it was those girls?” Mrs Williams asked me.

“They had followed me to the shop, calling me names and they threatened me in the supermarket.  They when all the police officers were chasing me down the road, I saw them laughing and I knew it was them who had framed me.” I said.

“Oh, well er, we are sorry to hear that.  Have the police officers spoken to those girls?” Mr Williams asked me.  I shook my head and said no.  Mrs Williams noticed the frown on my face and tried to comfort me.  “Dear, from what Drake has told us, we completely trust you.  And..” she looked up to her husband and continued her sentence.  “We will be more than happy to proceed with the bailing process.”

I was completely over the moon.  They said YES?  I jumped up from my bed and gave her the biggest hug.  “Thank you Mrs Williams!  Are you sure?” I asked her.

“Are you trying to talk me out of it?” she said between laughter.  I hugged her again then went over to Mr Williams and hugged him.  “Thank you so much, If you ever need anything at all, I will always be here.  I don’t know how I will ever repay you!”  I said excitedly.  I looked over at Drake and jumped onto him.  My lips touched his but I quickly pulled away before his parents could see.  I whispered “I love you” in his ear and he smiled.  I really, really did love him.
