The Cop and the Criminal’s Silent Kisses
I was too excited. I was actually getting out of jail! I could finally have the chance to go back to school, see my friends, come back home every night to a loving family and an amazing dinner. Go to sleep in my comfy bed, and wake up to kisses and clean showers. I couldn’t wait.
As I daydreamed in my bed, my eye lids slowly closed.
“Abbie” I heard a familiar voice say. My eyes opened and I sat up in my bed looking around for who had said my name.
“Drake? What are you doing?” I said as I spotted him by my cell doors.
“One of the officers are looking for me, but I had to see you” he whispered still. I smiled.
“I was just thinking about you” I told him.
“Are you excited? My parents have been filling in all the forms for the bailing thing and...” he started, but stopped once he saw my facial expression.
“Drake I swear I can’t thank you enough for doing all this for me...are you sure you’re not making a mistake?” I asked him.
“Mistake?!” he replied, shocked.
“Yeah...believe it or not we have only known each other for about a week, and you’re parents have just met me and are willing to pay so much money?” I told him. Even though he was on the other side of the cell bars, I felt him come closer to me.
“I don’t care if we met even yesterday, all I know is I love you and I want you to be free, so we can be together – properly. And I know how much you miss your normal life.” He looked deep into my eyes and slowly said “I’m doing this for us.”
“But you’re parents...” I whispered to him. “It’s so much money Drake. Are they really going to pay thousands of pounds for a girl they just met?”
“If I have anything to do with it, yes.” He said. I sighed and looked up at him. I hoped he knew what he was doing.
“I gotta run before I get caught” he said frowning. Every time he was with me I completely forget about him being banned from my cell. He walked down the hall, away from me as I sat on my bed and watched him disappear down the hall.
That night I sat on my bed and thought about random things like I usually did here. Prom was in 4 days.
The following morning I woke up and heard common voices talking down the hall. I got out of bed and looked down the hall from my doors.
“I have filled in the necessary papers and the information that is required...” the woman said. I looked closely and realised it was Mr and Mrs Williams. I smiled, they were here for me, they were here to bail me out. They spotted me and made their way over to my cell.
“Hello darling! Sleep well? I hadn’t a clue you were awake.” Mrs Williams said with a polite smile.
“Yes, I slept well” I lied. I never slept well in this place. “Thank you so much for being here!” I squeled. Mr Williams smiled and said it was their pleasure.
“By Thursday or maybe a few days later, you will be out of this cell and back into your home.” He continued. I couldn’t thank them enough. Thursday was a day before prom.
“Thank you so much, I don’t know how I could ever repay you” I said. Mrs Williams shook her head in disagreement and told me not to worry.
Wow, I guess they really were rich.
I didn’t see Drake again for the rest of the day but I saw him the next. Another day went and it was Wednesday already. One day before I was getting out, and two days before prom. But it wasn’t all good. Come to think of it, I was more upset than I was happy.
