The peaceful silence was broken by the ringing of a phone. Preeta walked inside her room and picked up the call.
"Hello Pree. How are you? Did you travel well? No problem during the fight? Why are you not saying anything?" A girl said on the other side.
Preeta face-palmed herself and was about to reply when she heard another voice on the end.
"Aree my dear wife shivani. How do you expect her to reply if you are continuously firing her questions without a break. Give her sometime to reply." A man voice said who is reveal to be Rishi and the girl his wife Shivani.
Preeta chuckled hearing them fighting on the phone. Who would thought these two are already parents to three beautiful children. Preeta's heart pained remembering her sweet nephews and niece especially KV, the most mischievous of all. That boy reminded her a lot of Shristi.
Shristi Singhania; her chilhood best friend and the cousin sister of Shivani. Shristi was always there for her given any situation-good or bad- but she never left her side. She knew that Shristi knows her truth but still she is scared whether she will be angry on her or not. She didn't keep any contact with her family from India. Every information she got was through Shivani when the latter called Shristi from time to time but she never spoke to Shristi in these past 5 years. Her thought were broken by Rishi and Shivani who were calling her.
"Where are you lost Pree?" asked Shivani.
"It's nothing. I was just thinking about Mumbai and how much it changed." Preeta lied smoothly but Rishi quickly caught it.
"Don't lie Pree. At least not to us. I know it's not easy for you to come back here and confront your past but you need to do it. Don't forget your real mission behind your coming to India."
"I know Rishi. Trust me I will do everything possible to end this chapter and for that old wounds will need to get open once again. Rishi how am I going to face them especially him."
Rishi and Shivani looked at each other solemnly. They really wanted to be with their best friend at this moment but due to their other engagements towards work, they couldn't make it. But they knew it was for the best if Preeta faced her demons on her own. This would help her get stronger and succeed in their motives.
"Acha forget it. Shivani can you send me the number of Shristi. I would like to meet her. It's better to start with her since she already knows the truth and she can help me. Did you inform her of my arrival?"
"No I didn't. I thought it's better that you surprise her. You know she missed you like crazy. She always asked me about you whenever we talked on the phone." Preeta smiled tearfully and wiped her tears.
"I know and it's high time that I correct all the mistakes I did five years ago. Send me the number. I will text her immediately to ask her to meet me." Preeta said bravely.
"Alright. Good luck Pree and remember we are always there with you. We love you." Shivani said looking at Rishi who smiled back at her. Truly they were happy for their friend and prayed that she got back all her happiness.
"I love you too. Take care! Bye." Preeta hung up the call and hugged her phone close to her heart.
Without these two in her life, god knows how she would have survive. Before meeting them, she was in a dark place. They were the one who got her out of the darkness and bring her to light....well nearly. Her life is still not bright enough without her family and specially her bajarbattu.
Preeta sighed at the thought of Karan. Of all people, she was most scared of Karan's reaction when he wil get to know she comes back. She knows Karan hates her (that's what she think) and she hate to admit that she deserves his hate even though he don't know the entire truth. How she wished to have tell him but she knew it was impossible.
