Naeemah slowly opened her eyes, trying to adjust to her dark surrounding when her eyes peeked a light. She first studied the place she was, it wasn't much but she realized she was in a cave of some sort and it smelled really horrible.
It took her minutes before she realized she was in shackles and her breathing escalated. The last thing she remembered was revealing herself and then being marched into the forest. At some point, she remembered loosing focus before everything went blank. She must have fainted due to the heat, hunger, stress and tiredness.
She looked to her side and saw Ameer with his head slumped downwards. There was a swelling to his head and Naeemah quickly realized he was hit. Scared to her bones, she leaned in to hear his breathings and relieved a sigh when she did.
Next she turn to survey the surrounding again and saw that they were the only ones in the room. Or where they?
Looking hard onto a pile, she realized the stench she smelt was coming from pile of rotting dead bodies. Her stomach churned and she clasp her mouth which was painfully clogged.
She decided to ignore the crying souls and shattering dreams of the people treated as nothing but flesh and bones and focus on her surrounding. Looking deeper to the outside of the cave, she realized they were in a forest. A thick forest with the rays of the sun struggling to separate the dense trees.
Naeemah closed her eyes and began the one thing she could do right now. Pray to the one who created her, the armed men and the dilemma she's in. She knew only He could save her, only He could make a way out for her.
Naeemah began praying as tears slowly dance their way down her cheeks. Just then she heard movement beside her as she turned to look at Ameer
He groaned and slowly opened his eyes, wincing at the pain and then trying to raise his hand to touch his head when he felt his arms are tied. Realization hit him as if finally remembering what happened before panic sets in his eyes as he quickly searched around. When his eyes rest on Naeemah, the panic settled a bit before he look around looking for something, a smell maybe and then setting on the pile of bodies.
Horror flashes through his eyes as he quickly averted his gaze making a disgusted face.
Naeemah's phone beeped and hope flowed through her chest. She glanced over and saw her phone flashing through the pocket of her gown. She decided she had to get that phone and send Humaira the address and hopefully they will be found, alive.
Her eyes quickly searched for anything sharp before it zeroed on the pocket knife close to a nearly skeletal hand. Her every instinct told her not to, that she might see something that will forever hunt her. But she knew she had to, this was the only way to save them.
So even with the protest groans of Ameer, She crawled over to the pile, ignoring the stench and turns of her stomach as she neared the knife. She turned her body to the right so as to get the knife when her eyes met the soulless eyes of a head that sat next to the pile.
Naeemah screamed so hard as her whole body began to tremble, the eyes bore into her, taunting her as she felt her whole body collapse with fear. Before a blink of eye, she was pushed back and her hand quickly snatched the knife. Ameer has crawled to her and pushed her backwards with his shoulders.
She was heaving, trying to calm her breathings and remove the scary image off her head. She knew it was a bad idea, but she had to do it. She felt the knife taken and soon her hand ties were cut off as tears welled up in her eyes. Ameer cut off his own ties and quickly grabbed her phone, went directly to her WhatsApp and sent Humaira their location just as a gun shot went off jolting Naeemah out of her nightmare.
The armed men came in and Ameer quickly tucked the phone behind him as they walked slowly up to them and roughly pushed them up before walking out of the cave with them.
_____________________________Naeemah paced back and forth as her husband tried to desperately calm her down. Her whole family are here and even if she could, she knew she can't stop the tears flowing out of her eyes. She was always a controlled person but recently, she has been an emotional wreck and then this happened.
"Calm down Aira, insha Allah we'll find them" Hafeez said calmly
"What if we don't? What if we are late, what if......... oh my God Hafeez what if..... what if we loose them? I can't, I can't let this happen"
"Nothing will happen Humaira, we are all praying and He who created pain and created us wouldn't let them succeed" Maami said with tears in her eyes.
Humaira nodded and paced to the dining area and then back checking her phone every now and then hoping she'll receive something, anything, just as her phone beeped. She quickly look at it as her heart take a leap. Looking up to her husband, she knew he understood and now they just hope they get there on time.
_____________________________Naeemah couldn't believe it, it was both a relief and a scare. The fact that her best friend stood before her, with a smile on her face as they both cry freely letting their tears do the speaking. Only that the scare part was they both have a gun to their skull with Ameer right next to her and a gun to his head also.
"I wanted this very easy my love" Mr Yaari said stepping out of a cave dressed in a simple black shirt and blue jeans.
