Na'eemah glanced between the card in her hand and the girl staring at her through the mirror. The smile on the girl's face mirrored the one in Naeemah's heart. She was beyond happy, she was elated, beyond the sky, moon and all the Galaxy. Her mind traced back to all that happened yesterday.
Mr Yaari took her to a popular restaurant, H&H_continential where they ordered for lunch. Through out their meal, they discussed almost everything basic as Mr Yaari made sure nothing more of his life is revealed. That still made Na'eemah happy, she had a good time with him which means a good more reason to hold onto him and make sure whatever she's planning for them works. After their lunch, he gave her his card and dropped her off. She thanked him and promise to call.
She wanted to wait two to three days, but here she is hours from when she collected the card. She was pretty sure if she hadn't slept off early then she might just have called him.
Her eyes glanced to the clock hung, it's just 8:30am, should she call or he's still in bed. It's still very early especially on a weekend. She heaved a sigh, dropping the phone before her eyes quickly glance over it and she dialled his number.
After seconds of ringing,it got caught off. She frowned and dialled again and this time it looked like it was rejected.
"Maybe he really is sleeping" Na'eemah thought keeping the phone aside and leaving the room. She will just watch something and later prepare breakfast, Maami and Zainab won't be out now.
_______________________________________"Yes yes Nenne I'll" Na'eemah laughed as Nenne, her grandmother who's on the other line sighed heavily
"I'm being serious here Na'eemah. You can't just be sitting there, doing nothing you know. You have to bring forth someone, someone you can settle down and build a home with"
"Nenne listen,I can't just drag someone off the streets or anywhere and ask him to present himself as someone who I'll settle down with" Naeemah replied
"Yet, people come to me with the interest of you"Nenne replied
"Who are these people? Naeemah questioned curious
"Ameer, he even called me days back. He told me he likes you and my blessings, what did you tell him?
"Nenne I did nothing" Naeemah quickly defended herself
"I ask what you said not what you did"
"Well I did nothing because we don't talk"
"You don't talk? Why? Nenne asked sounding surprised
"Well he doesn't have my number" Na'eemah replied with a shrug
"Or he asked and you didn't give" Nenne corrected her as Naeemah felt a lump in her throat, remembering the fact that she needs to keep the end of her deal and allow Humaira give out her contact to Ameer
"Nenne I just don't know okay, the guy is good, nice, handsome, good background and all but....
"But what? Nenne asked
"I have someone, and to be honest way way better. Someone that can make us live our best life. We deserve that much happiness Nenne"
"And who told you happiness or living your best life comes with money Na'eemah? Nenne reprimanded her voice thick with annoyance
"I....I didn't mention anything money Nenne" Na'eemah replied
"My advice to you is one, stop comparing yourself to anyone or anything, stop confiding your happiness in anything. Whatever it is you're meant to be, you'll be"
"But Nenne i---- Na'eemah was cut off short by Nenne who ended the call. She kept down the phone glaring at it before deciding to call Mr Yaari, she couldn't help but think Nenne wants her instead with Ameer.
After the third ring, his voice came in
"Hello, Mr Yaari here"
Na'eemah held her breath for seconds before quickly replying when she heard another hello in a questioning tone
"Ahmm hello, it's Na'eemah" She slightly grimaced on how her voice came out. Seconds that felt like eternity passed before he replied
"Ohh Naeemah it's you, how are you?
"I'm good. How are you?
"I'm good too"
"Great"
An awkward silence fell in before he cleared his voice
"So if you don't mind I need to go handle some things
"Sure ahmm I don't mind of course I don't"
"Okay then.... Goodbye?
"Yeah yeah goodbye"
Naeemah quickly ended the call before heaving a sigh as she looked into the mirror, her thoughts racing going places she doesn't even want them.
Humaira's voice brought her out of her trance. She completely forgot Humaira and her husband will be coming over today, they usually come over almost every weekend to greet Maami.
She quickly grabbed her hijab and head out. She went out to meet Humaira, Hafeez, Maami and Zainab in the living room. Humaira turned to look at her with questioning eyes
Naeemah quickly smoothened the crease between her brows and walked over to her cousin trying so hard to mask her worried and stressed face.
"Hey favourite" Naeemah greeted coming to sit next to Humaira
"Good afternoon Hamma Hafeez"
"Good afternoon Naeems, how are you?
"I'm good. Alhamdulillah"
Na'eemah excused herself and left to bring refreshments. Minutes later, they were all engaged in a light conversation when Humaira stood up and motioned Na'eemah to follow her.
They went straight to Na'eemah's room as Humaira stood keeping one hand on her waist.
"So? Humaira asked with a raised brow
"Soo? Na'eemah replied sounding confused
"How did it go with Mr Yaari?
"Ohh right, well. Superb actually as we really got along"
"Did you? Humaira asked with scrutinizing eyes
Naeemah felt the need to tell her cousin how she's uncomfortable and feels like she's forcing it on him but kept quiet as she knows her cousin might just make her cut off the little tie they have.
"Yes Humaira. Everything is fine"
"Okay then" Humaira replied with a relief sigh as she looked at her cousin
"Then you keep the end of the deal" Humaira added
"What deal?
"A meeting with Mr Yaari in exchange with your number to Ameer"
"Ohh that" Na'eemah said with a slump
"Yes that"
"Fine, give him" She replied waving her hand to which Humaira narrowed her eyes
"And you give him"
"What?
"A chance, he deserves that" Humaira said emphasizing on the "deserve"
"But I want a chance with Mr Yaari"
Humaira inwardly groaned before reprimanding herself. She doesn't know why she has such a strong bad urge towards Naeemah and Mr Yaari being together.
"I'm not forcing you into anyone or anything. Whatever decision you make, you bare the consequences good or bad
With those words, Humaira left her cousin who was staring at her retreating figure.
All she ever needs is someone, a perfect someone to have and hold
