Dianna's Outfit"Looking good." He said smiling.
"Thanks." I walked over to my bed and got my bag together. Not too much later someone knocked on the door. I was guessing it was Pansy coming to get me.
"One minute." Tom said to the person at the door.
"Why'd you do that, I am going to be late." I said pointing towards the door.
"Aw, so sad. You aren't leaving yet."
"Ok..?" I asked standing in front of him.
"You have to promise you won't have too much fun without me." He said looking at me.
"Ok fine." I said to him then turned around and walked to the door. Laughing a bit. I felt him come up behind me and he wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered down my neck. "Goodbye." I was expecting him to leave with me, but I guess he likes my dorm. As I opened the door I saw Pansy standing there."You ready?" She asked.
"Lead the way." I said taking her hand. We walked down to the common room and I spotted Zachary sitting on the couch fiddling with his hands."Hey Dianna, you look great." he said acknowledging my outfit.
"So do you." I giggled.
He smiled and got up from the couch. He walked over to me and it felt like he was towering over me because he was so tall. We stood there for a moment, as he looked deeply into my eyes.
"We should probably get going." and with that he grabbed my hand and started walking out of the common room. After a bit of walking we reached a big fireplace in a stone room.
"I'll go first." I said.
"Being all brave I see." he smiled.
"Oh shut up." and I stepped into the fireplace. I looked around it and got queasy. I had always hated apperating, I would always lose my balance.
"Actually, maybe it would be better if you went first." I said and stepped away.
"That's what I thought." he said as he slipped past me and walked into the fireplace, ducking a little so he wouldnt hit his head.
"Leaky Cauldron." he spoke loud and clear.Within a second, the fireplace flashed with smoke and Zachary disappeared. After the smoke had cleared, I stepped hesitantly into the fireplace. "Leaky Cauldron." I spoke as clearly as possible. Smoke filled the fireplace, then before I knew it I had fallen back into Zachary's arms.
"Well hello there darling." he said with his devilish smile.
"Hey." I said dizzy.
"Let's go sit down." and he basically carried me over to one of the tables.
The vibe was always so nice on the nights in the Leaky Cauldron. There was always live music playing, the lights were dimmed and sometimes colored. The sound of soft chatter, music and plates or cups clinking was heaven to anyone's ears."So when's the poetry thing happening?" I asked looking around to see no sign of anything to do with poetry.
He leaned in closer across the table.
"Ok so Pansy and I may have lied a little about the poetry thing but, I have something better."
"Oh goodness, what do you have planned."
He didn't answer, only tensed up.
"Well, I was too shy to ask you out myself. So Pansy said she would, and here we are."
"So, no poetry." I was a bit aggravated. I wouldn't have minded a dinner with Zachary, with poetry or not.
"Yeah, sorry about that." He scratched the back of his neck.
"Well, let's make the most of it." I said to him with a smile. His tensed shoulder dropped and he let out a breath of relief. I laughed a bit and we waited for the waiter to come take our order.
"Well, what a cute couple. What can I get started for ya." An older woman said with a notepad.
"Oh, we aren't dating." I chuckled slightly glancing at Zachary.
"Yeah." Zachary added nervously.
"But, I will take a butterbeer with a bowl of salad." I said with a smile
"And what about you son?" She asked.
"The same."
"This will be right out." She turned around and left back through the doors to the kitchen. Zachary had been staring at me this whole time, it was getting a bit awkward.
"So, how are you and Tom?" He blurted out. My eyes darted up and his face got red.
"Um, what do you mean." I said, clearing my throat.
"I know y'all are together." He said, beginning to look down.
"I don't know what he has told you, but-"
"It's fine."
"But we aren't, I told him we wouldn't be "official" till I chose. It isn't fair to you or Theo."
"Oh. Well that's nice. But, are you going to choose him?" That question rang through my head as I pondered my answer. Who would I choose. I couldn't keep dragging them along.
"I really don't know Zach, y'all are all so different." I said looking up at him.
"Thanks.."
"But let's not let this ruin our night, what should we do?" I said to him trying to lighten the mood.
Just then the waiter came out with our food. It looked so good, partly because I was starving and partly because it involved my two favorite foods.
We didn't really speak much while we ate. I realized I hadn't eaten lunch, which made me eat even faster. Come to think of it I hadn't had much breakfast either.
"Someone's hungry." Zachary looked up from his food at me.
"Haven't eaten all day."
"Really?!" He said surprised.
"Yea, I usually don't eat breakfast, but I skip lunch sometimes too, but today I just forgot."
"You really shouldn't do that Dianna." He spoke more seriously.
"It's really fine Zach, I just forgot."
He just shook his head and kept eating.
"Dianna.."
"Zachary, the only reason I didn't eat was because I forgot. I was in my dorm. I promise." I said looking at him. I never struggled with eating before, it's just my routine has been all switched up. It had never been a big deal, I never figured it was a big deal.
"If you say so, but can I do something for you?"
"Yeah, sure."
"How about we start eating lunch together, just so you get back to normal with your eating habits."
"Uh, ok.. Sounds good."
He looked up and smiled. Before we knew it we were done, and I got up and walked over to Zachary's chair.
"May I help you?" He asked, chuckling as I gave him my hand.
"Let's dance." He interlocked his fingers in mine and we began to walk towards the dance floor. There was a string band there, nothing too fancy. A fiddle, a bass, and a guitar. It was a nice upbeat tone. Zachary and I flowed along making sure to get every last beat into our steps. I hadn't felt this free in a long time. He held me close and we skipped around with other couples just enjoying our time. After about 30 minutes or so I got tired and I could tell so was Zach. Our paces had drastically decreased and we were both walking over to our table.
"Someone is a good dancer." I said eyeing him.
"Guess I could say the same about you." He looked back.
"What now?" I asked
"How about we get out of here?" He said getting up.
"Perfect."Zachary walked up to the counter to pay and after that we took off out the door. We were running through the streets, passing shops and people. I got a bit confused on where we were going but I just went with it. He pulled me up through this tunnel and at the end was a table with a view of the town. The lights were dim and the fog swept low. It was nice and cool out, not too much noise. I stood there next to Zachary with our hands still intertwined. We stood there and took in the breathtaking view catching our breaths.
"So.. What do you think?" He asked.
"I'm just curious on how you find these places." I asked slightly chuckling.
"With a mind like mine it tends to roam. In more ways than one." He responded with a wink. I just smiled.I wish I could run away from my problems, but then would life be as fun. I began to wonder what life would be back in France without the Riddle boys. Now that I think about it, I would be lonely. The amount of stress still doesn't account for the marvelous memories. The ones from sneaking around at night in the prefect bathroom with the troublemaker or falling asleep under the stars with the bookworm. Even dancing in the night with the misunderstood. All of these are happy memories. I'm not associating them with the dark side of the story, I associate them with the way I remember them. Each Riddle was so different, all of them had a different way of expression. That's for sure. But I am positively sure that I am falling in love with each. There is my problem.
