Chapter 6

A/N: Hi sorry it took so long for this update. As you guys saw in the previous a/n I was having trouble writing something for this chapter that I'm proud of.

ANNABETH POV

Ugh. The Fall Ball is tomorrow. I have to go with Luke. Piper's still mad at me.

It was now lunchtime. Percy is sitting at the populars table while they giggle over him. I guess he has no choice though since I made it clear that I didn't want to be near him on the phone yesterday, which was one of my deepest regrets. 

"Okay guys. There's something that Thalia, Jason, Piper, and I have been holding back from telling you, but I want to fill you guys in." I announced our lunch table. I quickly stole a glance at Percy and saw him in a lip lock with Rachel. Tears formed in my eyes, but I blinked them down.

"Annabeth? What is it?" Katie looked at me with concern. 

"You can tell us anything Annabeth. After all you were the first person to be nice to me when I came to this school." Leo smiled his playful smile that made you check your wallet to make sure nothing is gone.

"Okay so basically..." I told them about what happened between me and Percy. I told them about how Percy was going to the Fall Ball with Rachel. I only left out the fact that I wanted to go to the Fall Ball with Percy. The whole time, everyone at the table was picking at their food and nodding. "Yeah." I summarized. "So my life is currently messed up and I'm going to the Fall Ball with Luke." I said Luke's name low in hopes they wouldn't pay attention to it. No such luck.

"Whoa, whoa there." Leo was the first to comment. "Didn't you break up with Luke because he cheated on you with Rachel? Then when you mentioned it to him and broke up with him, he didnt even care? That Luke?"

I looked down and mumbled a yes.

Katie held up her hand. "Wait a second. Something's fishy here. Why would you go to the dance with the guy that broke your heart and didn't even care?"

I looked to Piper and Thalia for assistance. Piper nodded unsurely at me then looked down. Thalia came to my rescue. "Well Annabeth was going to uh... Annabeth was going to wear a camera to the dance. Yes. Annabeth was using that camera to get proof of how Luke flirts with every girl he sees and is going to show it to all the girls in the school. That way, all the girls will be cautious not to date Luke." Thalia nodded, clearly proud of her answer.

Everyone at the table seemed suspicious, but settled for Thalia's explanation. I could tell while Thalia was talking, Piper was trying to keep a straight face. She smiled a friendly smile at me. I hope that meant we were friends again.

PERCY POV

It was officially lunchtime. I made my way to the cafeteria without my Wise Girl. I missed her and wanted to explain everything to her, but I heard rumors that she was going to the dance with Luke. I can't believe she would settle for someone like him. She deserved so much better. Even better than me. I sighed and sat down with the populars. Considering that they were the only people to invite me to sit with them. 

"Hey ladies!" Rachel smiled as she sat down. "Oh and you, my hot date!" Rachel looked at me and licked her lips as if she expected a kiss, while her group of 10 friends including Kelli and Drew giggled. I looked around at her group of friends. I knew I wasn't going to be able to remember any of their names except Calypso, Kelli and Drew. I noticed that Calypso did not participate with whatever the populars did and seemed distant from the group. I liked that about her. She was different. I sighed and looked down. What has happened to my life? "Aw, Percy's sad. Girls lets cheer him up!" Rachel smirked at her friends. Immediately everyone rushed over towards me and put their arms around me. As everyone was hugging/practically groping me, I could tell that most of them dressed like Rachel. With clothing that shouldn't be considered clothing.

"Oh okay." I closed my eyes. "That's enough. I'm fine." Suddenly, I felt lips crash onto my own. They were rough and did not at all feel loving. I opened my eyes and saw Rachel kissing me. I pulled away. "Rachel. What are you doing?"

"Oh, I was just warming up for the Fall Ball." 

Everyone at the table giggled at Rachel and sighed. 

"I wish I had a man like Percy." I heard Kelli grumble.

I stood up. "I'm not Rachel's man. I'm only going to the Fall Ball with her and I didn't actually wan-"

Rachel immediately interrupted me. "Yes. Percy is only going to the Fall Ball with me. FOR NOW!" Rachel looked at me. "Percy, honey. Don't neglect it. Fate wanted us to end up together. Now sit down!" Rachel pulled me down to sit next to her and Calypso.

I heard Calypso whisper in my ear. "Sorry Rachel did that to you. SHe normally gets out of control easily. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but I'm eyeing Leo. I know you're currently not on speaking terms with him, but if you guys ever become friends again, can you be my inside man?" I felt so bad for Calypso. I got the sense that the only reason she hung out with the populars was to make sure she didn't get bullied. At least she was true to herself unlike the other populars. I nodded my head to her and saw that she smiled. I had a feeling I made her day. She then got up and told us she was going to use the bathroom and left.

Drew shook her head. "Sometimes, I honestly wonder why Cal's in the group."

"Uh... We let Calypso in so if any of us have to take a downfall, she would be there. And she has the right look, so what we're doing wouldn't be so obvious to the others. Like obviously!" Rachel smiled at Drew.

I looked over at Annabeth. I missed sitting with her at her table, with my friends. My real friends that is. I even liked Leo even though he spilled some sort of acid on me. Now my dark jeans are light gray. 

Rachel seemed to notice me looking towards Annabeth's table because she immediately smiled at me. "Percyyyy. Don't look back. If they were true friends, they would accept the fact that we're going out now. They would give you the choice to sit at their table. But have they?" Rachel paused and looked at me for dramatic effects. "No they didn't sadly. At least you got something better." She smiled at that. "Me!"
