[ chapter five: hermia ]

Hermia didn't know how to feel about staying alone on the ship with a sleeping Jason, Piper, and Coach Hedge. She knew the crew had to go out and get supplies to fix the ship, but she wasn't comfortable with everyone splitting up.

So much had happened since they arrived at Camp Jupiter. While everything seemed fine at first, it all went downhill the moment Leo and Octavian went on the ship. And worst of all her boyfriend had become unconscious because some Roman decided to throw a brick at his head.

When that happened Hermia got beyond scared Jason wouldn't wake up again. She was so worried about him she was willing to risk her own life just to get to him. Surprisingly her new brother was able to keep her back. He reassured her that Jason would be fine and Mia was honestly thankful to have a new brother who would look out for her.

At the moment Hermia was still sitting by Jason's bed. One hand was holding his hand tightly, while the other was running her fingers through his hair. Mia didn't know how long it would take Jason to wake up, but she didn't plan to leave his side.

It's moments like this where Hermia wished she could just cast a protection spell over her loved ones. She wished she could have done more to protect Jason because the last thing she wanted was to lose him.

Six months had gone by, but the pain of losing her boys was still there. Mia knew she couldn't wait for Lysander because he was gone. That's why she wanted to give Jason a chance because she really did like him. But after already losing her boys, Mia didn't know if she wanted to love anyone ever again.

Losing someone is painful and Hermia had already lost so much. She didn't want this, she didn't want to live with the fear of losing someone else and yet this was something she couldn't control. Mia had to get a hold of her emotions because she can't control who comes and goes from her life.

Her eyes sweept over his bruised face as she brought his hand up to her lips. She placed a gentle kiss on his knuckles before placing his hand down on the bed.

Suddenly there was a soft knock at the door. Mia glanced up and noticed Piper standing by the door. Piper gestured Hermia to follow her. At first Mia didn't want to leave Jason's side, but there wasn't anything she could do but wait until he woke up. Reluctantly she stood up, pressed a gentle kiss on Jason's forehead, and than followed after Piper.

The girls walked to the mess hall and when they sat down Mia couldn't stop thinking about how messed up everything was. Piper watched Hermia with sad eyes. "Do you want to eat something?"

Mia shook her head. "No, I'm not really hungry."

Piper nodded but she didn't look too happy about Mia's reply. "You need to eat something, Mia. You need your strength and Jason would want you to take care of yourself."
