Drake's mouth felt cool on mine.

At first he didn't move as I kissed him. His body felt stiff against mine. Maybe I didn't hear him right and I just screwed up everything.

I was about to pull away when he gently grabbed me by the back of my head and pressed his lips harder into mine.

"Matty." My name fell from his mouth like a rain.

His lips moved against mine. His body warmed up immediately. He opened his mouth to me and I tasted something sweet and a hint of lilacs. It was almost so weird that I burst out into a fit of giggles, but Drake's mouth felt too good. He bit my bottom lip. My body warmed and the world felt light around me. I needed more of him. He pressed his mouth so hard against mind sometime that our teeth clanked together.

And my stomach growled. Loudly.

I pulled away from him. My stomach gurgled. Drake looked down at me. His eyes met mine and his grip on me relaxed. He waited on me patiently. My brain went blank. I'm pretty sure it was the flood of hormones that were screaming at me to go back to kissing him.

"Yes?" Drake asked. How could he look so calm and collected after that kiss?

"Should we talk?"

"Yes." Drake said. My stomach gurgled. "Maybe after you eat something though."

"I think I forgot to eat dinner." I wanted the liquor to hit me harder. Stupid, but after the summer I've had, no one would blame me.

Drake made a concerned noise as he let me go, but grabbed my hand.

"We can pick up food from that local Japanese place you like so much and then go home."

Home? Should we be alone together right now? A hormonal part of my brain was screaming yes.

Shit!

Erasmus!

"We have to talk!" I yelped.

"We do. Over dinner." Drake said.

"Everyone thinks that it's a witch!" I yelled. "The murders."

Drake looked over at me and there was the tiniest smile on his face. "I suspected that, but we can talk about that over dinner."

I nodded. My head felt light and dizzy. I wanted to giggle, but I could also feel all the oh shit panic flooding me. There was Erasmus. And there was murders going on. And-

"Breathe, Matty," Drake said. He squeezed my hand.

"There's so much-"

"I know," Drake said. My stomach growled. "But first, food."

We walked together in a weirdly comfortable silence. I forgot how nice it was to be around him when we weren't scared, arguing, or on guard. I felt like I could breathe.

The warm summer night made the clothes on my body feel too heavy. The street lights glinted in the oversaturated yellow color that almost looked orange in the right angle. Cars went by. How did the world feel so normal?

"That kiss..." Drake began softly as went made our way closer to downtown where more people were at. "Did you mean it? Because I'm warning you now, I can't go back to how things were before."

"Yes." I looked up at him and remembered how much of a man whore he was known for being. "Err, did you?"

"Do I need to kiss you again to make my point?" Drake asked.

I wouldn't mind that.

"You have a bit of a reputation," I said.

Drake snorted. "It's not just lust for me."
