Ahsoka woke that morning, enveloped in warmth and knew exactly where she was at. Her back was pressed up against Rex with his face buried between her back and right lekku, breathing deeply against her neck.

He seemed at peace.

In fact, in that moment, even she felt peaceful.

His arm secured around her, pulling her closer and keeping her safe, Ahsoka yawned and snuggled herself closer to him.

Hearing his heart beat rise, Ahsoka could tell that he was waking up, but she really wished he wouldn't. He was going to want to talk and she just wanted to go back to sleep.

Ahsoka waited for him though. She could only imagine his reaction when he woke up to find himself almost entirely covering his Commander. She stifled a giggle – he was going to be horrified. It wasn't like they did anything though, just slept in the most literal sense of the word.

Enjoying the silence and his body heat for a few minutes more, Rex's breathing changed, and it wasn't quite as steady anymore.

Then, it halted as he became aware of his surroundings. He stilled around her, and Ahsoka sighed, content, even if for so short a time. "Good morning, Rexter," she said, teasingly.

Force, I needed that rest.

"Commander."

Poor man, she could feel his anxiety and she almost felt bad about finding it funny.

His arm was still around her though, which either meant he had forgotten about it, or he was comfortable with it.

Probably the first option.

She pulled away and rolled over to face him. It both gave him more room and took some. Though her body wasn't flush against him, her face was mere inches from his. She was so close he could see the wrinkles on her face she had gotten as they slept and the lines where her facial patterns changed colours.

"Thank you again, Rex. I really am sorry for springing up on you like this and, you know, dragging you too bed." She winced as soon as the words came out of her mouth, but she didn't know how else to say it. "I just – I couldn't go back with Anakin or Master Obi-Wan or my own quarters, because then they'd come find me and I didn't want to have that conversation yet."

Rex raised himself onto an arm before he spoke so he could have more space. "Ahsoka, really, it's okay. If I'm being honest," He blushed before he even finished. "I'm glad you came to me. All the lads and I watched your trial on the holonet, but after that, none of us knew what happened. The General never answered my comm."

Or Jesse's or Fives'.

Ahsoka felt her heart warm as the clone admitted he worried. "Rex, I-" she began, but was cut off before she could finish.

Without even a knock, the door opened and their eyes both flew to see who it was, Rex twisting his body to see. All Ahsoka could pray was Please, not Anakin. Instead, it was someone arguably just as bad, at least according to Rex.

Fives, causally leaning against the frame of the door looked in on them with a poodoo-eating grin. "Sleep well, Captain?"

That clone, regardless that he was an ARC trooper, was going to be on KP duty for the entirety of their next tour – at least until they return to Coruscant again.

Rex didn't think he could make his scowl even more intense. "Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod?"

The di'kut just barked a laugh and was still relaxing. "Always, Captain."
