Hailey P.O.V
I couldn't believe that I missed a spot when I wiped my face after finishing my ice cream! That was so embarrassing, but I also don't mind because whenever he touches or even just a simple bump or light touch gives off a spark that I cannot deny. The first part of our tour was a rough start, but I am shocked that he was even able to pick up on me feeling off. For someone who I just met, he already knows me way too well. Even my siblings aren't that good, and I have known them our whole lives! Once we left the ice cream parlor, we walked side by side heading back to where we started the tour. By the time we got to the end of the block, Max was done with his ice cream. I was a bit jealous that he was able to stay so clean while eating his ice cream while I was a mess. He caught me staring at him and smiled at me.
"Did I get something on my face too?" he asked me.
"No, that's kind of the problem," I said with a slight laugh. "I don't know how you didn't get any ice cream on you."
"Jealous, are we?" he asked with a smirk.
"Just a little" I lied, and he laughed.
"you should see me eat a sloppy joe. It gets everywhere." He said with a chuckle.
"Now that I have to see," I said with a laugh. I didn't realize it at first but somehow our hands ended up interlocking. When I noticed I couldn't help but blush. He definitely had his smooth moments.
"Do you have any plans after we head back to the house?" Max asked me as we walked hand in hand.
"No, not really. I will probably just go home and relax before I'm needed to make dinner. You have a family dinner, too don't you?" I replied and he sighed.
"Yeah, I do. I'm just hoping it won't feel so awkward. When it's just me around they seem to forget I am there and are all over each other." He said with a disgusted look on his face. "It's like they forget that there are plenty of rooms with doors to lock for them to do that."
"Are you not a fan of public displays of affection?" I asked.
"Is anyone a fan of their parent's PDA?" he asked back.
"Fair point," I replied with a nod.
"But to answer your question, I don't mind doing public displays of affection. I want the world to know that my girl is mine, and only mine." He said to me.
"Sounds like you have experience in that department," I said looking up at him as we waited for the light to change so we could cross the street.
"No, not really. I wanted nothing to do with the brainwashed girls back there. It's more based on how I feel right now and what I am willing to do." He explained looking down at me and smiled. Still holding his hand, I took a step closer to him.
"And what is it that you want to do right now exactly?" I asked him.
"Do you really want to know?" he asked back with a smirk clear on his face.
"Yes, I do," I answered feeling slightly anxious about what his response would be.
"I've been wanting to do this for a while" he began to say before cupping my face with his hands and kisses me. I was in shock but quickly wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him back which made him smile into the kiss. We stood there kissing for what seems like a few minutes too short before he pulls his head back and just smiles at me. "was that what you were expecting?" he asked.
"uh..." I stammered and blushed, "No it wasn't but I am glad you did." I replied.
"Me too." He said just as his phone began to ring. He took his phone out and checked to see who was calling. "I'm guessing it's my mom." He said with a shrug and answered the call. "Hello?" he said and was quiet for a moment. "Okay, mother. I will be back soon. We are just finishing up and will head right back." He said into the phone before hanging up.
"Your mom called to check up on you I am guessing," I said to him as he put his phone away and he shook his head.
"No, she said she has to talk to me about something." He replied. "but enough about her. Let's enjoy this little bit of freedom we have until we are back to our parents." He said as he grabbed my hand and I nodded in agreement.
"Maybe we should take the long way back to your house," I suggested as we walked.
"Good idea. The more time I get to spend with you the better." He agreed. The rest of the way to the motorcycle was an easy walk and we talked about random things; from things we like to do to some of our favorite movies. Max obviously has had the chance to see as many movies as I have but from the few, he has seen I can tell he has good taste, similar to my own. Once we got to the motorcycle, he helped me get on before putting his helmet on. "Ready to go?" he asked me.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Just go back the way we came, I forgot that it starts to get dark out at this time." I answered.
"Alright. Do you want me to drop you off at your house or do you want to grab your bike and take it home?" Max asked as he got on and turned it on.
"Yeah, I want to grab my bike. I don't think my dad would be very happy to see me riding a motorcycle." I said with a laugh. He would definitely not approve.
"Yeah, smart move." He agreed with a chuckle and sped off down the road. I wrapped my arms tight around his waist so I wouldn't fall off. I felt so at peace being with him. I wish I could feel like that at home but that's just not an option because of my parents. I got lost in my thoughts and before I knew it we were back at his house. Max got off and helped me get off.
"Thanks," I said to him and dusted off my legs from the dirt that kicked up from the wheels.
"I think I am the one that is supposed to be doing the thanking. I'm glad you are the one who gave me a tour." Max said as he put the helmet back on the seat. He grabbed my bike and brought it over to me. "Here you go." He said.
"Trying to get rid of me already?" I asked jokingly.
"Of course not, but I can just feel my mother's eyes watching me from the window." He said with a laugh. I leaned over to the side to see past him and believe it or not, Brittany was watching him from the window.
"Wow! How did you know?" I asked in disbelief.
"It's a skill I developed after many failed attempts of trying to escape in the past." He said with a shrug. "I have to go inside now but I will text you later." He continued and gave me a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around him and didn't let go at first. I really didn't want to go. With my head on his chest, I tilted my head up to look at him. He smiled at me and gave me a quick kiss. "If we stay like this any longer, they are going to notice." He reminded me.
"Right," I said with a sigh and let go.
"Hey, don't be sad. We can plan more things to do together later when we text. I promise." He said.
"I am going to hold you to that promise," I replied.
"Please do." He said with a smile and waved goodbye before running off inside. I sighed again once he closed the door. I got on my bike and rode all the way home. I came in through the backdoor and was able to avoid seeing my parents, going straight to my room and closing the door behind me. I stood in front of my bed and fell back onto it. Despite the rough morning, today was a good day.
