Chapter two: Stress of July

A couple of months had passed since the events. School was over and the fourth of July was coming in hot. Thankfully, besides a couple of headaches , the rest of the school year for Charlie went on pretty uneventful. She was able to finish the year with good grades, and overall she did well in school. 

At the beginning of July , Charlotte noticed how Cerise was arranging her mom's hair. 

"What are you doing?"

"Oh, Cerise is re-arranging my hair  for the big celebration ahead of us. Say, you hair has been getting a bit darker recently"

"And you left it to grow too" added Daisy.

"Kinda looks like Molly's" Chuckled Matt.

"It does, doesn't it" remarked Charlie. "Wait a minute............."

"Are we all thinking the same thing?" giggled Daisy

"Say Molly, got anymore spare bows?"...........

"You're in luck. The other day while I was with Cherise at the store I bought two more in case of anything." responded Molly." Looks like it's a good thing we did"

"But does Daisy agree with this?" added Matt

"Sure, why not?" Giggled Daisy.

And so it was settled. After an hour or so , Matt, Daisy , Guest, Rose and Jez gathered to see Charlie's new style. First came Cherise, then mMolly, both with satisfied looks on their faces. 

"So , how did it go?" quizzed Daisy.

"You'll just have to see for yourself" giggled Molly.

Then Came Charlotte.

"Woooooooow" gazed everyone

"What do you think?" asked Charlotte.

"It looks beautiful" said Guest , still filled with amazement.

"It's gonna take us a while to adapt to the new style" joked Jez.

"Haha, real funny" responded Charlie.

"Say, how's the baby?" Asked Molly.

"You mean our 8 months old warrior" asked Rose mockingly looking towards Jez. A few giggles were heard. "As well as a baby can come" completed Rose. "You and Daisy would know".

A couple of days went by and the fourth of July came. Everyone was getting ready.  Charlie was getting her shoes, when she noticed Cherise with the crystal in her hands.

"Mind if I take it?" asked the little girl.

"Sure. Just keep it safe."

"I will"

At the carnival, in the outer borders of the town, the adults decide to go into the Tunnel of love, just for fun and remember their true love. The kids stayed behind. 

"So, watcha wanna do?" asked Charlotte.

"Beat you at MarioKart in the arcade!" Jumped Cherise.

"Are you sure you want to challenge The Queen of MarioKart?" Said Charlie trying to get a good dramatic pose with the wind blowing in her long hair.

"Yes"

"OK, but just take note that before you stand eleven years of experience"

"Liar, you started playing when you were five"

"Ok, only ten"

At the arcade, Charlotte bought a couple of tokens, plugged them in , and the two started playing. The first round was won by Cherise, but only because Charlotte let her win. In the second , it was Charlotte who was victorious.

"Dang" spat out Cerise "It's a tie"

"If only we had two more tokens" said Charlie. After finishing her sentence , Cherise heard the sound of somethings made out of metal clanking. 

"Wait a minute. Do you....." she was cut off by Charlotte revealing two metal tokens that she was playing with. "Shall we?"

The tokens were inserted and they began. They were both playing well. Charlotte was winning. But something bizarre happened: The crystal began to shine brighter and brighter. Then it all seemed to have happened at once. Charlotte caught a glimpse of her eyes glowing a magenta-like color before an awful headache struck her. She lost her balance and immediately she pinned herself against the wall in an attempt not to fall. Cherise noticed that and went to check if her older friend was ok. 

"Charlie?" 

Cherise's voice sounded muffled in Charlie's head. She began breathing heavily, whilst trying to recover. She opened her eyes. Cherise took a step back in fright as she saw Charlie's eyes slowly fade away from a magenta-like glow.

"C-Ch-Charlie? Are you ok?"

Charlotte slowly regained consciousness and remembered what happened.

"Charlie?"

"Oh my......... good God , that was strong. Oh my. Yeah, Cerise, I'm ok. "

"You sure?" asked Cerise still frightened.

"Yeah. Just dizzy. That's all"

"Do I win?" asked Cerise.

Charlotte looked at the arcade screen. Cerise came in first, while Charlotte hadn't finished the race.

"Oh yeah. You won. GG"

"Hurray! I'm the new queen of MarioKart!"

"Don't get too ahead of yourself!"

After about 15 minutes, Guest, Matt, Daisy, Molly, Jez, Rose and their baby came out of the tunnel.

"How was it?" asked Charlie.

"Lovely" responded Daisy. What about you two girls?

"We have a new TEMPORARY Queen at MarioKart" finished Charlotte, pointing at Cerise , who had a huge grin of satisfaction on her face.

"Well, how about that" chuckled Matt. 

"Anyway, who's down for some fireworks?" entered Molly

"US!"

They then headed to a place where they could better see the fireworks. Soon , the sky was being lit up by bright colorful fireworks. But the fireworks weren't the only thing that lit up. The Crystal in Cherise's pocket began lighting up too. But Nobody noticed this time either. Charlotte felt a small headache. She put her hand to her head, and before she could say anything else, she fell passed out. Daisy's heart sank. She was beyond frightened. She called guest.

"Holy mother. Matt, me and Daisy have to go."

"Why so?"

"Charlotte passed out"

"Oh. I'll tell Molly, and Jez"

"Thanks. See you around"

Guest Picked up her daughter , hoped in the car and headed home. There he laid Charlotte on the couch , and put a bag on ice on her forehead. After 10 minutes or so, she woke up. Daisy was beyond relieved.

"What happened?"

"You passed out while watching the fireworks" responded guest.

"Do you remember what happened before passing out?" asked Daisy

"Only a terrible headache" 

"Well , now that's weird. Do you think that she's epileptic?" began Daisy.

"No , It's the same one as from the arcade"

"Wait, you had a headache at the arcade too?" Quizzed guest in a worried tone. 

"Did Cherise not say anything?"

"No"

"Oh I see. Anyways' can we watch the rest of the fireworks?"

"Sure", began Guest "Matt and the others are in the backyard"

And so they went to see the fireworks, but they were all still confused by the events that had just accured.
