As a child, one often wonders what kind of bond they would have with their soulmate. The most common way was through the red string of fate, and that's why even the stories usually revolved around those. Even Namjoon wondered if that was the way he would be connected to his soulmate. How cool it would be to share something so unique with your soulmate.
But the strings usually appear at the age of maturation and blend into infinity if their soulmate is far away. Namjoon's turned eighteen years ago and has no idea what his bond might be. Love is something he had started avoiding, thinking it would be a mess if that person wasn't his soulmate.
Career was and is his top priority so, with time, his belief in soulmates changed.
Fate, yes. He likes to think that two people are meant to be, fated, destined or whatever poetic phrases have been made about the universe bringing two people together but the bonds? Those are a hindrance to the purity of that connection.
If the bond is visible to one's eye, it feels as if fate is forcing them to fall in love.
Which he hates.
He has read a few messages on weverse, where armys address their concerns of 'meeting' their soulmate now that they know their way of connection and it makes him sad. There is this unnecessary longing when the bonds appear, not the excitement to meet the other.
Namjoon looks through a few notes he took when he had all of a sudden got inspired while cycling along the Han river. A new message pops up on his phone which asks him if they should announce that the group is going on a hiatus.
Taehyung can't participate in any group activities for who knows how long. Jimin can work but things don't look good between him and Arin. Yoongi seems to be tired all the time too. They could use a break, yes. The fear of losing fans is there when is it not, but he has to stay strong and believe in them. That's what the leader does right?
His phone buzzes with his own photo appearing on his screen. Why is Hoseok video calling him in the late evening? He plugs in his AirPods, angling the phone up. "Hm, Hobi?"
"Yah, where are you?" Hoseok says and immediately furrows his eyebrows as if he noticed the bushes in Namjoon's background. "Don't tell me you are still out near Han river, working..."
It is laced with concern and disbelief, Namjoon sighs. "I have to submit this song before we plan on going on a hiatus, Hobi."
"You could have done that at home."
Namjoon shakes his head. "I will be at home soon. Just need to look through more interviews and that's it—"
"Are you kidding me?" Namjoon purses his lips at how angry Hoseok sounds. "It's way too cold outside and haven't I told you that you should let the members do their own job, hmm? Send the questions that are meant for us, on the group chat."
