Rosepaw hurried out of the dirtplace with Mousepaw. So glad we weren't caught by Hollyfire who was night watching. "What is it?" Rosepaw asked while they were walking. "I'll show you when we get to the lake." The lake! What was important about the lake?
They arrived at the lake and Rosepaw sat in confusion. "What?" But she got hushed by him. Mousepaw closed his eyes and whispered something Rosepaw didn't catch. Rosepaw blinked and saw that the water from the lake rose up. It circled and fell back down again. "Put your paw in the water," Mousepaw ordered. Rosepaw did so and then saw the water reflect roses. "Wow! How is it doing that?" But Mousepaw didn't answer. Rosepaw stared on at the roses. Beautiful and red. "Oh no," Mousepaw panicked. "What is it?" But Mousepaw ran off before he answered. Rosepaw ran after him leaving the roses in the lake be swallowed by darkness and shadows.
Rosepaw lost Mousepaw. She worried something was wrong but her paws were getting heavy.
Rosepaw made it back to her nest. How tired she was. But Mousepaw wasn't in his nest. She was puzzled but too tired to worry, she fell asleep into a nice doze.
Rosepaw woke back up. But this time back where the roses were. She panicked and started running. But then she ran into the huge she-cat again. Rosepaw hissed, "what do you want from me?" The cat looked at her
Another voice came from behind the she-cat. "It's okay, Rosepaw, she is friends with Starclan." A tortoiseshell cat walked out from behind the big cat. "I'm Sagetail and this is Lunar. She is a snow leopard and an ancestor of Starclan.
Rosepaw stared in amazement at Lunar. She was white with grey leopard spots. "Rosepaw," Lunar meowed. "We are here to send you a prophecy." Rosepaw froze. "Prophecy? I thought medicine cats only got those." Sagetail shook her head. "No dear, normal cats can get them too." Sagetail nodded at Lunar. "Shadow and dark will combine and destroy all of your roses." Lunar meowed with warning in her voice. Rosepaw stared in horror. "What do you mean? Shadow? Dark? Roses?" But she didn't get an answer. Sagetail and Lunar faded away. Then came back the shadow who swallowed up Rosepaw and the roses.
