Chariots

Skylar's POV

We had many offers for allies but one did surprise us we got one from Katniss Evergreen (The Girl on Fire). Finnick said we had to accept but I wasn't sure why. I was going to ask Finnick why we had to accept their alliance but before I had the chance to ask him I was being dragged off to get into my outfit for the chariots. 

I was wearing this amazing dress that was short at the front but at the back it almost dragged on the floor it was a ocean blue with bits of white to look like the sea. It was covered in a thin layer of netting. My hair was down in beach waves which looked so good. 

I walked out to where all the other tributes were I saw Haymitch and immediately went to say hi to him. 

"Hi." I signed to him. 

"Hey, love the outfit." He replied looking at the dress I was wearing.

"Thank you.... do you know where Finnick is I can't find him." I asked.

"Yes I think I saw him over there talking to Joanna."

"Ok thanks I'm gunna go find him." Then I walked over to Joannas chariot and saw her wearing the strangest outfit I had seen in a while.

"You look like a tree." I signed to her once she saw me.

"I know right my stupid stylist decided trees would be the best." She said with a disgusted look on her face.

"You know where Finnick is?" I asked her.

"Ye I think he went to go talk to 'the girl on fire'" Joanna said not looking impressed I could tell she didn't like Katniss.

"Ok I'm gunna go get him before he traumatises her."

"Ok be quick."

I walked over to the district 12 chariot and as I suspected I saw Katniss with a bored expression and Finnick talking. I walked over there to try save her.

"Fin leave her alone." I signed giving him an annoyed look.

"But I'm not doing anything wrong." He said while pouting. I just giggled at his childishness.

"What are you doing?" Katniss asked.

"She's talking." He said in a duh tone.

"No. You spoke she did nothing." She replied in a confused tone.

 "Oh right, ye she's signing it." At this her mouth formed the shape of an o.

"We need to go." Finnick nodded and then offered me a sugar cube. I took it and and knew I was going to give it to the horse we had so I just kept it in hand. But before we actually left the other guy umm... Peeta I think his name was he can practically running up behind Katniss. This scared me so much I just hid behind Finnick and he realised what was going on and put his arm around me in a protective way. Then we walked off back towards our chariot.

I started petting the horses and gave one of them a sugar cube then Finnick gave one to the other. Finnick turned and faced me saying. "Are you ok?" You could tell he was concerned.

"Ye, I'm fine just got startled that's all." I signed back to him. I could tell he didn't believe me but he went along with it anyway. Joanna came running to our chariot. She looked concerned so I knew she had seen what happened a minute ago. "I'm fine." I signed to her. She just sighed in response. Haymitch started coming over to us. He had a small smile on his face. 

"I'm sorry Skylar I did tell him not to come straight to you." I looked at him and gave him a smile back to show that it was fine.

"VICTORS TO CHARIOTS PLEASE." A robot voice said. I signed a bye to Joanna and Haymitch before going and joining Finnick in the chariot. It he chariots started moving and Finnick had his signature smirk plastered to his face. I however wasn't doing anything. I just looked straight ahead of myself. That was until I felt a shoulder nudge my own. I looked to Finnick and started waving to the people in the stands who started shouting as I did so.

"And there she is people our very own Skylar Odair. Winner of the 73rd Hunger Games. Doesn't she look beautiful folks." This got a huge uproar of an applause and screams. I just gave a fake smile to the stands. I saw President Snow up at the front on his podium in all his fake glory. I looked him in the eye and he had only two emotions in them. Fear and amusement. 

Slowly the chariots came to a stop in front of Snow. "Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the 75th Hunger Games, the third quarter quell." Then after all the dramatics for one sentence we turned back and were able to get off the chariots.

"You looked like a star out there sweetheart." Haymitch said coming up to us from the stands with Effie and Cinna not far behind him. 

"Yes you look like the queen of the ocean in that outfit." Cinna commented making me giggle a little.

"You look great in that it suits you perfectly." Effie said hugging me. I hugged her back. In a way Effie was like a mother along with Mags to me once I lost mine. 

"Thanks I love your dress too." I signed in response and smiled.

*time skip to elevator.*

I caught the elevator with Joanna cause I was going to her room just to watch something cause Finnick kept looking at me all sad and stuff and I started to get sad so I asked Joanna if we could go to her room and talk.

Once in the elevator I realised their was also Haymitch, Katniss and Peeta. At first I tensed up but then Haymitch put a hand on my shoulder with made me relax. Next thing I knew Joanna was complaining about her stylist.

"I would love to shove my de in her face." She said teeth clenched shut. She turned to Peeta "would you mind." She turned her back to him he moved her hair out of the way. Peeta just unzipped the dress causing me and Haymitch to start smirking. Katniss gave Peeta a disapproving look. Once she had taken off her dress we reached her floor. She stepped out after saying. "Let's do this again sometime."

"See ya later Haymitch." I signed smiling at him. He gave back the same smile.

I stepped out the elevator and me and Joanna started talking about random stuff.
