Three years later- May 2002
She knelt down placing the small roses in front of the headstone, she stared at the words like she'd done hundreds of times before then got back up and shifted on her work heels giving herself a second to just breath.
She visited Hermione's grave obsessively during school and still did, people said it was unhealthy, but she still continued she wouldn't stop visiting her.
Her hands twitched against her pants, as much therapy she went through the tremors never went away, she smiled down at the grave then walked slowly out of the cemetery towards somewhere that was safe to apparate.
They'd buried Hermione in her hometown, they'd figured that's what she would've wanted. Her death exploded the wizarding world, it was all they talked about for months and even now three years later she would still see Hermione's name in the papers.
Hermione's death had also exploded her life, for the last few months of school she hid from everyone she didn't talk to anyone and filled her time with school. Her grades got even better, but everyone knew it was just because she was hiding and had nothing else to do.
Lots of people were angry at her, said it was her fault which it was then they found out about her obliviating herself from Fred's memories, Ginny didn't talk to her for two months.
She turned a corner and walked down an alleyway apparating into Diagon Alley.
She graduated with some of the best marks, but she really didn't care, she got a job at the ministry at the department for regulation and control of magical creatures. She devoted herself to her work and quickly started getting promoted.
It took her almost a year to start socializing again, her co-worker forced her to go to a small gathering with the some of the other departments in the ministry it turned out Blaise and Theo had also ended up working at the ministry, she hadn't seen them in months and it shocked her out of her skin.
She slowly started to reconnect and finally found the gut to reconnect with Ginny. Ginny was mad about Fred but quickly got over it and they grew closer than they had ever been.
Now she was here, she never fully ever got over it any of it she still obsessively visited Hermione's grave and found herself staring at pictures of her and Fred for hours but she was on good terms with herself, she imagined Fred being with someone else and starting a fresh life and she was happy for him.
She still did keep to herself a lot, it was just habit and she hadn't dated anyone since Fred, most of her friends where with someone some even married already but she was fine without having anyone else she still believed after three years she would just hurt whoever got that close.
She arrived at Diagon Alley and walked down the pathway in her work clothes, she had recently started working with magical creatures and researching them for the ministry she also had illustrated multiple pictures for different manuals including a new one that was going to be used at Hogwarts.
She walked up to the joke shop and smiled faintly before heading to the back stairs, George had invited her and some of the others for dinner. He promised that Fred was out so she couldn't say no.
It still stung whenever she saw him, to think he didn't remember her, but she always reminded herself it was for the better even if it hurt her. She'd seen him a few times during Harry and Ginny's wedding and Angelina and George's wedding; she had managed to turn her back every time he came near so she wouldn't have to see him and wouldn't have to introduce herself and pretend.
She walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.
The door swung open and Ginny wrapped her up in a hug. She was blinded by her familiar red hair and hugged her back.
