Chapter 21: Back in Your Arms

Once I wake up I slip my body into the black dress the Gods had laid out for me, it is the same dress Lucian brought me in the Spring Court. I put on a long black cape that goes with the dress and feel like a princess again. The material is so soft and silky on my skin compared to the clothes I got in the Spring Court.

I don't want to look bad when I see my family again. I stare at my face in the mirror and attempt to cover my dark under eyes. I add some blush to my cheeks and a pink gloss to my lips. I look much better with the pink brightening up my complexion.

 I make my way over to my closet and find all my dresses, shoes, and jewelry. My heart warms at the thought of my family bringing all of this just for me. I realise they always intended to rescue me. I can't believe I ever doubted them.

I slip on a pair of black boots with small heels. I feel so elegant being back in shoes with heels. Since we are still in the middle of a war though, I strap my gold hilted sword at my waist. My dad got me this sword when I turned sixteen as a birthday present. I have never used another sword in battle, besides today.  I look over to my table and see Fenrys' dagger that he gave to me when I was only seven. I remember being so excited to have a weapon of my own to defend myself. I almost always have the dagger strapped to my thigh, and I decide to strap it to my thigh today as well. 

"Princess Evalin, I know you don't want to be bothered but your family really wishes to see you" A soldier is peaking his head into my tent, he looks terrified. 

"Tell them that I will be out in a moment" The soldier nods and bows in my direction. It feels so weird to have people bowing at me again

"right away Miss." I smile at the man and he rushes out of my tent. I am so scared right now that I can barely breathe, or maybe it is the just mating bond screaming at me to reunite with Nyx. 

I take a deep breath and take a step out of my tent. The whole army out in front of me all chatting with each other. 

"look there she is, Its Princess Evalin!" Everyone turns around suddenly and they all bow and  clap.

I have never felt more imbarrise in my entire life. I continue to walk forward and the sea of men parts for me, forming a walkway down to my family. People all around my are yelling and patting me on the back."look there she is, Its Princess Evalin!" 

"Evalin we missed you so much!"

"Evalin you were amazing in battle" 

"Are you ok Evalin, what happened?" 

I just stiffen up at all the attention and look down at my feet. I hate all this commotion over me. I am planning on just looking at the ground the whole way to my family when I hear a distance whisper in the wind calling my name. 

"Evalin?" My heart stops beating and my skin buzzes at the sound of my name on this lips. 

I look up in front of me and immediately find Nyx's eyes on me. I can't even describe the look of relief and joy mixed on his face. I can see his breathing pick and his eyes become glassy.  

"Nyx" I whisper under my breath. 

Nyx lets out a huge breath and I can't hold back anymore. I sprint the rest of the way to my mate. Nyx is fully in tears once I reach him and I jump into his  welcoming arms. My skin is on fire with his touch and I practically skin into his arms. I shed a tear at the thought of finally being safe in his arms. Nyx pulls back with tears straining his cheeks. He places his hands on my face and whips away my tears. 

"I have waited 777 days to be able to do this again." 

Nyx smashes his lips onto mine as we kiss with a fiery passion. The sparks of the mate bond are sending  electricity through my veins. His are even softer and warmer than I remembered.   We slowly pull apart and I press my forehead against his. I cling tight to his body, hoping this is not all just a dream.
