TW: manipulative boyfriend, kidnapping towards the end (i think it counts as kidnapping?), locking someone in your basement. If I've missed anything, please tell me!
Sitting on a bean bag with a book in his hands, Emile used all of his strength not to slap Patton. Sure, the fatherly figure dude just meant good, but he didn't really feel like hearing about Patton's stupid job at the care home at four in the afternoon when he should have been reading.
"Look, Pa-" Emile paused, immediately getting up and wrapping his arms around Logan excitedly. "Lolo-Bear! I missed you so much!"
"Holy sugar sprinkles.. He lets you hug him?" Patton asked in disbelief, staring at the two.
“I don’t enjoy it, but Emile said that boyfriends naturally share affection, so I comply with it.” Logan said bluntly, shrugging. He frowned when Emile looked a bit mad, what did he say? He only spoke the truth, and that was he did not enjoy being hugged, even by Emile. Patton blinked before starting to laugh awkwardly, subtly backing away from the two. He didn't know why, but it felt strange seeing the two complete opposites dating, especially after such little proper interaction. Frowning, Emile glared at Patton before sniffling and hiding behind Logan.
"Baby, he's being mean! Make him stop, pretty please?" He begged, fake tears in his eyes.
“B-but he’s not doing anything.” Logan said, quite confused. “He didn’t say or do anything mean or bad. I don’t get what you want me to do, Emile.”
"He's laughing at me.. Just like everyone else." He said sadly, letting go of Logan and walking out the library.
“I’m not laughing at you! Emile! Emile!” Patton called, before sighing. “I’m gonna go after him-“
“Dont.” Logan said, glaring sternly at Patton. When Emile ran out of the library, that must have been due to Patton. There was no other explanation. “I’ll go after him.” He walked out of the library.
Emile was hiding in the janitor's closet, adding Patton onto the list on his phone. He allowed himself to keep crying, just in case Logan or Patton heard him.
“Emile? Emile!” Logan called as he walked through the mostly empty hallways. It was after school, so almost everyone had gone home. “Emile, baby, where are you? Please, can you answer me?!” The boy in question put away his phone and sniffled, getting up and slowly opening the door.
"L..Lolo-Bear?" he asked quietly, looking around. When he caught sight of him, Emile ran over, hugging him tightly.
“I’m sorry, Emile, for...abandoning you?” Logan didn’t quite know what he did wrong, but he knew he did something wrong. He should have stuck up for his boyfriend, what kind of lover was he? “Please tell me what I did wrong, I genuinely don’t know. I’m sorry.”
"You just let him laugh at me, and, and you didn't do anything!" Emile exclaimed, making it seem like he was struggling not to cry. "I thought you were supposed to care about me.."
“I do care about you!” Logan said. “I just...I didn’t know, okay? I didn’t know that what he was doing was wrong, I really didn’t. Please don’t be mad at me, please don’t cry or anything.” Emile nodded slowly and kissed Logan on the cheek, smiling slightly.
"Hey, it's okay, Baby! I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at Patton. I just wish we could be friends." He said with a sigh before gasping excitedly. "That's it! I'll show him we can be friends!"
“Very well, I can convince him as well. Or-try.” Logan said, smiling now that he was sure Emile wasn’t mad at him. Emile was his boyfriend...so why did it feel so wrong when he kissed him on the cheek? He’d ask Thomas when he got home, phrase it as a hypothetical. “But for now, let’s go back to the book club, shall we? Everyone’s waiting.” He smiled brightly and nodding, grabbing Logan’s hand as he skipped back to the library, wiping away the last of his tears.
“Emile!” Patton said as soon as he saw the two come back into the room. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was hurting your feelings!”
“Patton.” Logan said, stopping him from coming any further. “You need to apologize to Emile, before anything goes back to normal.”
“I-I just did.” Patton said. Although he was a really nice person, he was not going to apologize sincerely for something he didn’t do. “Now, I think that’s enough fighting for today, wouldn’t you agree?” He grabbed Logan and gently pulled him away from Emile, sitting him down in an empty chair. The pink eyed boy smiled sadly at Patton convincingly and sat next to Logan.
“I definitely agree. And, I was thinking, maybe we could have a sleepover at mine! We could have so much fun, and it’d be like today never happened!” He exclaimed excitedly, bouncing in his chair.
“O-kay.” Patton agreed, a bit hesitant. “I’ll have to ask my parents though, and they’re probably going to say no. But I’ll try!”
“I really hope you can come, Patton.” Logan put a hand on Patton’s knee while looking at him with a soft expression on his face. Why did he feel better with Patton than he ever did with Emile? Was he cheating on his boyfriend by thinking these thoughts? Where does one draw the line? He quickly drew his hand back, an uneasy expression on his face. Emile just smiled at Logan, making sure to not show any anger or jealousy. He turned to Patton and giggled.
“Why don’t you lie to them? Or, it’s not really lying if you tell them it’s a book club bonding trip!” He said sweetly. Emile was begging Patton inside his head, desperately wanting to find out more about the stupid happy go lucky boy.
“Oh, I’d never lie to my parents!” Patton said, a bit offended that Emile would even suggest something like that. “And it is still lying, it’s lying by omission! Logan, you’re smart, could you back me up please?”
“Y-yes, lying by omission is something that indeed happens. It means to mislead someone by leaving out certain details. By leaving out the fact that the bonding trip is at someone else’s house and they’re staying the night, Patton would be lying to his parents.” Logan’s thoughts were a mess, but he managed to blurt out the fact. Emile’s eye twitched slightly as he smiled brightly, grabbing his boyfriend’s hand gently.
“You’re so smart, Lolo-Bear! I could listen to you explain things forever!” He said, not realising he said it outloud, feeling a tiny bit giddy.
“T-thank you.” Logan said, feeling rather uncomfortable when Emile grabbed his hand. The uneasy feeling was normal, he’d been feeling it ever since he met his boyfriend, but it was a bit stronger now. And he had no idea why. “I take it everyone else can go, though? To the sleepover?” Roman and Virgil both nodded. Emile blinked in the confusion before realising and giggling shyly.
“W-well that’s great! I can’t wait! I’m gonna have cake, and cookies, and crisps, and fizzy drinks, and sugar, lots of sugar! Does anyone have any allergies?” He rambled, bouncing in his seat again out of excitement.
“No, I’m only allergic to mustard.” Roman said, before shrugging when everyone looked at him. “Hey, I don’t know why either.” Virgil shook their head, staring at the floor. Their very very good friend was asking them all to a sleepover. Where they’d all be together. In a house. All night long. They smiled brightly, a rare sight considering how quiet they were. Then, Virgil paused.
“I’m not a-allergic to a-any food, but p-perfume makes it hard t-to breathe.” They stuttered, fiddling with their sleeves. Emile just smiled at them and nodded.
“Okie dokie! I’ll keep my perfume in a cupboard then, Virgey!” He said happily.
“Very well. I think the book club meeting is over, but I will see you all at Emile’s house later.” Logan said. “I’ll be biking by the way, since Thomas will get suspicious if he sees someone pick me up.” He got up and packed his backpack. His boyfriend pouted, but nodded anyways, getting up and hugging him happily.
“Bye bye, Lolo-Bear!” He exclaimed, snuggling into the crook of Logan’s neck. Virgil quickly looked away, mumbling softly under their breath.
Logan cringed slightly, but managed to mask his emotions mostly. “G-goodbye, Emile. Patton, since we live close together, would you care to walk home?”
“Sure!” Patton said, beaming as he packed his own bags. “Bye everyone!” He and Logan left the school, chatting as they walked home. Emile held in a growl before turning to the other two and smiling brightly.
“Can you guys send me your addresses? My house is kinda hard to find, so I’ll come and get y'all!” He asked happily, grabbing his phone and chucking it at the two. “Add my number to your phones, and send Patton my number if ya want.” Virgil nodded and quickly grabbed their phone, adding Emile’s phone to his contacts with a slight smile.
Roman took down Emile’s number as well. He didn’t exactly know what to feel about Emile dating Logan. He did support their relationship if they were happy, but Logan looked rather uncomfortable. So he didn’t know what to do or anything. Emile smiled brightly and hugged them both before grabbing his bag and skipping off.
“See you later I guess, Virgil.” Bye!” Roman waved before running to catch the bus, since he lived on the other side of town.
