You clawed your way into my heart

The riot started as soon as the verdict was out. And it has been going for the past two months. It was long due to accept the hybrids as equals. The new law was formed banishing hybrid enslavement. It was rare now but still there were some cases. And the hybrids were calm and collected all these while when they were protesting for equality and as the law formed creating equal right for everything including education, work and healthy environment and the choice of choosing a partner of their own. It was like a dark veil was lifted from them and none of the hybrids were less than happier. But some humans couldn't take it well and they started attacking hybrids creating a riot. Those who got arrested were mostly humans as they thought they were superior than ' animals'.

Jungguk was coming out of his office and before reaching his car, somebody pushed him from back and he fell on the ground. He looked up , there were four men with baseball bats and nasty smiles. One of them started.

" You think siding with hybrids and fighting for them will make you all mighty ? ".

Jungguk was never an impatient or an arrogant man. Also he was well built and knew how to defend himself. HE could easily take one or two men. But here they were four and by the look of it they had other weapons hidden in them. But jungguk wasn't one to go down without a fight.

" Well... I don't know about you but, doing the right thing makes me sleep peacefully at night." Jungguk replied.

" We will make you sleep forever " and with the they started beating him . Jungguk fought back. But it was one against four and someone beat him in his head and he screamed in pain.

"Leave him alone ". Jungguk heard growl and before he knew it he was closing his eyes. Just before everything went dark , he saw two shining golden yellow eyes, looking at him.

Jungguk opened his eyes and as he cliché as it sounds to the white walls of a hospital with a big headache. His eyes started scanning the room starting from the windows ,the curtains were out so he couldn't understand whether it was day or night. Then there was couch near the windows and a familiar figure was sitting there reading a daily with his larger glasses.

" Namjoon...how long was I out ? " Jungguk asks.

" Oh... you are up , let me call the doctor first, and welcome back man " Namjoon goes out to fetch the doctor.

The doctor comes in and examines his head and explains he was out for almost two weeks, there a large concussion and now its healing. He can leave the hospital the next day , but he needs rest as the concussion will make him nauseous and drowsy till he fully healed. Then the doctor left. Doctor's advice made him uneasy, he never sat idle even on weekends he went to meet hybrids and talked to them or was busy with his boxing. He never really had a life other than work. Namjoon was working with him , so he could call him a friend ? He wasn't unfriendly for sure. They never really had a talk other than work. Most probably once or twice Jungguk might've asked how was his weekend or something. Yet Namjoon was there with him at he hospital, he had no reason to, yet he was there.

" Well.. can't wait to go home... " Jk states.

" About that... they thrashed your home as well Junggukah..seemed the attack on you and your house was planned as you were their lawyer"

" Those bastards..." Jungguk grits his teeth.

" I .. where should I go now ? " HE was murmuring to himself but Namjoon heard him. " You can stay at mine Junggukah..its not a problem. Either way it will take sometime to rebuild the house and you need rest. I'll handle the cases and will report to you. It'll be easier if we are together.

" Namjoon ...that's a lot, seems I have already wasted enough of your time. I don't want to be a burden. " Jungguk says.

" You are not a burden Junggukah... I know we don't talk outside work, but you are like a brother to me. And it wasn't a hassle to be here. I worked from here so there wasn't anything lagging. Don't worry. Namjoon assures.

Jungguk is still not sure about going to Namjoon's place, its not like he has anywhere else to go. Then he suddenly remembered the Yellow eyes.

" who...who brought me here ? "

Ah... Taehyungie saw you getting beaten up and helped you " Namjoon smiled lightly.

" Who is Taehyungie ? "

" Taehyung, He is my brother in law. " Namjoon replies.

" But ..But..his eyes...it was shining ?...or was I imagining ? I saw yellow shining eyes." Jungguk is beyond confused and that makes Namjoon chuckle.

" It wasn't your imagination Gukk. He is a hybrid . "

" what ? How come he is your brother in law then ? "

" Uh... I married his brother... ? "

" Oh... I didn't know.." Jungguk thinks he has no idea about Namjoon's life and he is there helping him get better, offering shelter.

" Yeah..we never discussed that, I got married right after the law was formed, you didn't come to my wedding." Namjoon smiles.

" Sorry Namjoon..." He fells guilty of not knowing anything about his colleague who is with him for the past one and half years.

" Don't be , I know how hard you work and you don't even have time for yourself. Let's use this time for your healing and for yourself yeah ? "

Jungguk smiles and lay back on his bed and he slowly utters the name " Taehyung...".
