Love at Last - Chapter Five (final)

Albedo's arrival to Mondstadt was punctual. He always came at the right time for the experimenting with Sucrose. He felt a bit funny today, but pushed through. He didn't want to leave his poor partner in the dust. Albedo stepped past the city gates, all the way past the Jewelry and 'General Goods' shop to where Timaeus was standing. He noticed Sucrose chatting with Timaeus. Albedo felt as if it wasn't right to eavesdrop, so he stood away. When Timaeus left, he headed over.

"Good morning, Sucrose." He smiled.

"Good morning Albedo." She blushed.

"I planned on going to Liyue. I don't go there quite often." Albedo spoke.

Sucrose wanted to go of course, but was too shy to ask.

"Oh.. you can do that now. I can wait!"

There was silence for a moment.

"Now, who really said it was just me going? I wouldn't leave my amazing partner out."

Sucrose couldn't believe what she just heard. Her face was most likely red as a tomato. She didn't want him to see her like this. It would be a dead giveaway that she had feelings. But she remembered the potion, the drink that he supposedly drank this morning. What if he really did like her because of this? Was that why he said what he just said? Her thoughts were wild.

"I.. can go?" She stammered.

"Of course." He smiled.

She smiled too. Their experiment was held back for another day. A sad part about Sucrose and Albedo's relationship is that they rarely ever had fun together. The only time they actually spent time together without science and alchemy was when they first met and celebrated for his promotion. This meant a lot to Sucrose, Albedo too even, due to the lack of quality time together.

After some minutes (30-40) of walking, they reached the entrance of Liyue. They headed to Liyue Harbor.

Once they reached Liyue, they decided to grab something to eat. Sucrose really likes Liyue's food, especially the Jade Parcels! They sat at the little table beside the small restaurant and talked about their life while they ate what they ordered.

"So, Sucrose, how's everything?" Albedo spoke.

Sucrose took a bite. "The food or.. my current status?" She replied while eating.

"You can say both."

She swallowed. "Well, the food is great! You know how much I love Jade Parcels!!"

He really adored how passionate she was.

"And.. I'm doing good." Sucrose thought about many things, but it wasn't the time. "How are you, Albedo?"

Albedo looked around a bit then answered her question.

"I'm good. I figured this would be the best way to talk more about ourselves than about our experiments today," he smiled.

She softly blushed. "Oh yes! I agree."

After Sucrose and Albedo paid, they took a walk down on the dock to look at all the boats and the ocean water itself. They thought the water was so pretty this afternoon.

After some time passed, night began to fall. They've been in Liyue all day. Sucrose, nor Albedo had never been in Liyue Harbor at night. It was so beautiful. They decided to head out of Liyue Harbor, but higher up to get a better view of the city and it's glorious lighting. The two sat on the edge of a mountain, showing the best view of the city.

Sucrose had a lot to say. So did Albedo. She was starting to doubt the potion that she accidentally spilt worked. Until..

"Hey Sucrose?" He spoke.

She turned her head to face him. "Yeah, what's up?" Sucrose adjusted her glasses.

"I brought you here on purpose." He replied.

She blinked with a puzzled expression. "What?"

"Listen.. I have a lot to say. Ever since we started working together, I started developing feelings for you, Sucrose. I purposely said I wanted to go to Liyue just so you'd go with me. I wanted to bring you to this place because I know it makes you happy."

Sucrose couldn't believe what she was hearing. Just as plan. 'I guess it did work,' she thought. It's not like she was disappointed. She was so happy and her heart was beating so fast.

"I.. have feelings for you too! Although.. I never thought you'd love me the same.."

"How could I not?" Albedo smiled and replied.

They smiled at each other and looked into each other's eyes. Albedo put one hand on her cheek and they both leaned in and their lips touched.
