Din's POV

Jeyna collapsed to the ground in an unmoving heap, and that's when time stopped. Utterly stopped. My breath was ripped from my lungs as I stared at her unconscious body, and everything else just faded away. The hunters, the concerned Foundling in my arms. Everything became background noise.

I continued to stare at my riduur as lightning skittered across her bones. The only emotion that I could even remotely understand was pure, undiluted terror.

She couldn't be dead.

But she summoned lightning, for fucks sake.

I blinked once. I was married to the most powerful fucking woman in the galaxy.

I gritted my teeth. I better start fucking acting like it, then.

My body acted on its own accord, drawing my handheld blaster and firing at the nearest two human hunters. The kickback jarred my wrist as the bolts slammed home, blowing smoldering, gaping holes in the center of their chests. My eyes immediately whipped to the other human that Jeyna had electrocuted, and blood and brains exploded as another shot nailed him between his obscenely glittery blue eyes.

All that was left was the little creature that had held my Foundling at knifepoint. Rage speared through my body as time once again crawled to a stop. There would be no mercy.

As he tried to run with his tiny little legs, I didn't bother wasting extra energy by running. I easily stalked up to him and grabbed his cloak, throwing him against the rock wall a good ten feet away. A hard crack resonated, and the creature groaned a mechanical noise as he rolled onto his back.

I stomped my foot down on his throat.

"I want you to deliver a message," I sneered, the creature beneath my foot scrambling to find a way to push me off of him. "When you return to your magistrate empty handed, tell him to stay the fuck away from me, my wife, and my Foundling." A guttural growl pushed its way out of my throat as I pressed down harder with my foot. "Or they risk facing the wrath of Clan Ryn-Djarin."

A little flare of pride bloomed in my chest as the creature beneath me froze in terror. Jeyna would have been proud of my threat. She had always been better at wordplay than me, but I was learning.

"Do you understand?" I hissed.

The creature let out an ear splitting screech.

I released my hold on the creature. "Then get the fuck out of my sight," I snapped. "Before I change my mind."

Jeyna's POV

I stared at him.

Moff Gideon.

Everything was dark except for him. The space around us was utterly black, but he was somehow illuminated, his black armor gleaming in the light that shone on him.

His face was set in a neutral scowl. "Well this is a surprise," He said, his voice void of any emotion. His cape fluttered behind him on a nonexistent breeze, and my heart shuddered at the sight. "It is nice to see you again, Ryn." He chuckled darkly. "Or should I say Ryn-Djarin?"

I couldn't find the right words to say. I had so many things flying through my mind and I couldn't voice a single one of them. Fear and panic and dread flooded my body and I was rooted where I stood, unable to move.
