As the Years Passed....

Sapnap was still furious. Dream hadn't left to train, he would have sent some letters back to them but he didn't. Dream didn't leave to train, he had run away from them. Ran away from the two people who loved him more than anyone else in the world. Sapnap had given up with waiting for him to come back, but George didn't. Because George still loved him entirely, a piece of the brunet's heart still belonged to the blonde. Sapnap wasn't upset, he understood. Instead, he was still angry at Dream for hurting his boyfriend.

George had told Sapnap a while after Dream had left that the brunet had a small crush on both him and the blond. Sapnap wasn't surprised, he thought George had liked Dream more then him. So you could imagine he was shocked when he goes to confess to George so he could get over his feelings and instead finds that his long-time crush returned his feelings.

Sapnap had missed his friend, that he could admit, but now he had more to focus on then trying to find Dream.

------

George was still upset. He knew, no matter how much he tried to fool himself, he knew, Dream was never coming back but he hoped he was. With his entire being. George just wished to hug the taller male one last time, to play with his hair-a luxury only George had gotten to do because he had found Dream in the middle of a mental breakdown and George refused to forget what it felt like-, or even hear his voice one last time.

The voice that told stories of folklore and tales they had never heard of, he even told them some about the royal family- Dream had told them his father was one of the Prince Clay's personal guards so he had been able to attend some lessons with Prince Clay. George fondly recalled how Dream had once told them the Prince had ran away to visit a friend, a half Piglin by the name of Technoblade. The Royalty had befriended a widely known anarchist. George loved the way Dream had told them stories in details others would miss and how he spoke so fondly of Techno.

George would never admit but sometimes he felt jealous of whoever Technoblade was because he had gotten to see a younger, more boyish Dream.

------

Dream had never returned. It's been two, almost three years now. Almost three years since he had seen his boys. Three years without hearing Sapnap yell at him for being reckless, or George hugs. No, he wasn't able to go back as he hoped he could have. He had to stay at the Palace, his "home". He didn't like it, his real home was with his boys, with his crushes. Not at a palace where they forced you to be something your not. Here, Dream had to put on the role of Clay, a prince that didn't care about his people. He hated the roll. He cared about his people, he had witnessed the pain and poverty people had went through first hand. So many people who hated royalty because the king was a tyrant.

"Clay!" Dream heard his father yell. He sighed and got up, straightening out his tunic as he walked so he wouldn't get scolded again for 'dressing like a peasant'. He had passed his sister in the hall, she looked like she was barely holding back tears. Dream went to go comfort her when his father yelled his name again, anger evident in his voice.

Dream sighed as he walked to the throne room and bowed in front of his father, his blonde hair falling over his exposed face and emerald eyes glaring at his 'Father's shoes. "Yes, my King?" Dream spoke lowly. That was another thing, Dream and his sister, hell even his mother before she had passed, was forced to call him 'my King'. If they didn't they had to spend a night in the dungeon.

"Stand up, my son." The tyrants voice was laced with fake layers of honey and kindness. Dream stood but kept his head down. "As you know I am... old. And, as the eldest child, you must one day take over my role as the King. And to do that, you must marry." Dream sharply inhaled, he didn't want to be king. He wanted George and Sapnap, but he couldn't tell his father unless he wanted them executed. "So, in a weeks time there will be a selection. Unmarried ladies, duchesses, and princesses will come and from everyone who comes you must pick someone who attended the first ball to wed." Dream fought the urge to glare at his father and instead continued to glare at his feet. "Is that clear? If you do not pick someone to wed I will pick for you."

Dream bowed onto one knee, raising his head so he made eye contact with his father. "Yes, my king. But may I request something?" Dream grinned when his father nodded. "Invite Lords too, so I may not be the only to find a... wife. It would be more interesting, to win the heart of a Lady when another Lord also wants her, correct? Just like you did many years ago, correct?" Dream knew he had won now. His father could never pass up the chance for Dream to do something just as he did years ago.

"Excellent thinking, fine I will invite them. The selection will go on for however long you see fit, so you should be able to decide by the end who you want to pick. This, however, cannot go on for longer than a year. If it does, I will pick from the remaining Ladies and you will wed her."

Dream hid a grin. He had already found a loophole. That, of course, is if the two he's thinking about attends. He could just invite them to stay with him, but then they would know he had lied to them. "Yes, my King." Dream stood as he was dismissed and made his way back to his room.

Sapnap sighed, looking down at George as he laid in his arms.  He pulled up their intertwined hands and the shorter male kissed the golden ring sitting on the slightly taller males hand. A knock interrupted them. Sapnap carefully maneuvered George so he was still comfortable but the black haired male could now stand. He had walked towards the door, frowning when all he saw was a scroll on the ground.

He frowned when he saw it was addressed to him, not his late Father that had passed not long ago, to him. He skimmed through it. A mandatory ball in five days time to celebrate the Prince returning and to help him find a wife. He was able to invite one other person and he had the perfect one in mind.

Going to sit next to George, he showed the brunet the scroll and George accepted to go with him. Since they both already had suits ready, they just needed to pack and get ready for a three day ride to the SMP Castle. They had both agreed it was a little exciting, it would be George's first ball and Sapnap's first ball as a Lord.

They both had the unspoken agreement that when they got there they would both look for Dream. No matter how long they had to stay, and once they found him? They would never let him go. Not again, not ever.

And secretly, miles away, Dream was telling himself the same thing.
