"I'm pretty happy on where I am now." He said, with a genuine smile.
I can't help but smile as he said that.
"Sure, maybe there's a couple of things that I would like, but I have a lot of things that I appreciate. Sometimes, I feel like people don't appreciate what they have enough since they never felt what it was like without it." He added, moving his hands as he talks, like it would make his point more valid.
I shoot him a smile, and he returns the gesture.
I notice that he's wearing a patch on his jacket, the patch that knights wear.
"You're a knight?" I asked, pretending like I didn't knew.
"Oh, yeah! If you can tell by the red colour, I'm in the offense team." He told me.
"I heard that station jem and diam are going to the Nether, uh are you in those stations?" I push away the urge to laugh at the fact that I already know these since my friend, Dream, is friends with Darryl and has told me some information about him.
"Yep, station jem!" He gives a small giggle. "We're heading in there in a couple of weeks, we're training every other day."
"Do you like fighting?"
"That depends on what or who I'm fighting. If its an innocent person or animal, I'm not gonna enjoy fighting them."
"Aw, that's pretty cute. Are the trainings boring?"
"Again, that depends. My friend Quackity enjoys it, whether or not he's good at it, and my other friend, Puffy, sees it as a chore than a hobby, I personally am okay with it. However, if I had to chose drawing or fighting, I'd chose drawing everytime."
"You like drawing? In what style, realism, a cartoony style, your own style, or others?" I asked, really curious and interested.
"I stylize my art a bit- oh, wait! I brought my sketchbook," he takes something out from his bag, "this!"
He offers the book to me and I take it. I flip through the cover, which has Darryl's sketchbook :) on bold letters written on it, and see the first page.
My mouth fell to make an o shape. Its a scenery, in where a flowing river separates a hill from the forest. You can tell he actually put effort on it since the lines are cleaned up and he payed attention to the smaller details, like the birds in the top right sky, the rocks in the middle of the lake, and some falling leaves under the trees (ba bum ba bum).
I noticed that I haven't complimented on it yet, so I forced myself to blurt out a compliment.
"This is amazing!" I shouted, a little to loud and excitedly.
"I-I mean, yeah this is really good." I repeated in a lower and quieter tone, slightly looking away, even if he already can't see my face since I'm wearing the box.
He gave a low chuckle and thanked me for the compliment.
I saw some portraits of people, one who I recognized was Puffy, the Dream Team, Antfrost, and others. Some of them were more stylized, but a lot of them were incredibly realistic. I always pointed out and complimented the small details and he would always mutter out a small "Thanks."
One of the drawing catches my eyes. Its a portrait of a small dog with huge eyes.
"That's Rat." Darryl said with a smile.
"You named your dog Rat?" I said, teasing him.
"Well you should see her with her fur trimmed! She just looks like a really big white rat!" He answered defensively
I laugh at his flustered tone and continue looking through the book.
I got to the end of the sketchbook, which was disappointing, but I was happy to know that there would be new artworks.
"Skeppy." I hummed in response.
"Can I draw you?"
"Dude, I literally have a box over my head, I don't know what you wanna draw about this." I answered light-heartedly and gestured to myself.
"Aw, come on! It's just for memories and stuff! Besides, I bet you look nice inside that box." He complimented. I'm slightly amazed and amused by how he can easily be genuine and compliment someone. He does it so effortlessly. How does someone simply say what they were thinking?
"Yeah, sure." I replied in the most haha, I'm just being sarcastic as a joke, don't worry about me tone I can use. However, even I couldn't tell if I was joking.
"Oh my goodness, Geppy, I'm serious! I already know your personality, and y'know what I always say?"
"What?"
"Personality shines through looks. When you know someone, the real them, your perception of them changes. The more you like someone's personality, the more you'd think someone's attractive."
We both stay silent for a good 10 seconds.
"Wow, you are so adorable and wholesome."
"I know I am! Thank you!" He responded confidently. I never expected that someone could be so confident but not be annoying. Welp, I guess expect the unexpected. Wait, is it even unexpected anymore if we expect it?
"Y'know Noveschosch, I like this. Yeah, I like this whole Late Night Talk thingies. Wanna meet again tomorrow?"
"Ooh, yes please! Maybe I'll bring some of my famous muffins too!" I chuckled
"Like the first time? I don't know why, but I feel like you're obsessed with muffins."
"Hey! Okay, maybe just a bit, but not obsessed!" I burst out laughing at the fact that he got way too defensive.
"Stop laughing, Geppy! This isn't that funny!" He put emphasis on the word that. I laughed even harder just to annoy him. I could see him attempting to hide a grin, but he soon gave up and joined me.
We both just slouched on the bench and just stayed there, quietly enjoying each others presence. The night just seemed to drift by as we both just stared into space and thought about everything and nothing. After a while, I feel my eyes getting droopy and my surrounding is just being more blurry. I try to fight the urge to sleep, but a small quiet yawn escapes my lips. I see the world getting darker and darker and I start to loose the feeling of my body as I'm unaware of myself falling asleep.
