Chapter 7: The Roses

It was raining yet again the next day. Marinette decided to wake up early. As she got to school and went inside, she was called upon a familiar someone. It was Adrien. "Marinette! Over here!" Adrien called her as he stood by with Chloe by his side. Marinette was having second thoughts. She remembered what had happened yesterday. Alya called to her and she decided to go with her. Adrien was a bit upset as she left. He turned to Chloe with a frown as she had her head down.

As class went on to recess, Alya advised Marinette to talk to Adrien. "I don't feel like talking to him...after what happened, I don't see him like I normally do." Marinette said with a gentle and soft voice. Alya patted her back and told her that it was ok. Adrien and Chloe approached the cafeteria and sat down with the two of them. Meanwhile Nino also walked by and sat next to Marinette. "Hey M-marinette!" Nino greeted her nervously. "Hey Nino. What's up?" she replied. But Nino just smiled nervously and had no idea what to do next. So he looked at Adrien who just winked at him. Nino was sweating a lot. So he decided to run for his life. Alya and Adrien made a face palm for their disappointment. "What's with him?" Chloe asked. "He uhh...likes someone." Alya replied. Marinette smiled at her and told her that maybe it was her that he likes. Alya stepped back and said no. "Nino is like a brother to me. Surely he likes someone else." Alya said and looked at Adrien with a wink and he winked back. "What is with the winks??" Chloe was getting irritated. Adrien whispered to her and told her about Nino. With only that, Marinette was feeling down once again. "I forgot something at home. It'll just be quick." she stormed off.

Adrien and Chloe looked at her as she ran. Alya noticed what was going on. "So...Are you guys in a?" Alya asked them like she knew nothing. Adrien and Chloe looked at each other. "Well uhh...actually..." They said as they showed their engagement rings. Alya was ironically surprised. "Yeah...arranged marriage. It was her idea."

"When is the wedding?" Alya asked again. "After we graduate college. After that we plan on getting divorced after." Chloe replied. Alya turned as she had a frown. She thought about how Marinette would feel about it. Will she be okay with it? Can she handle it? "She probably wouldn't.." she thought to herself.

As Marinette walked by, Nino approached her and let out a hello. She waved back and asked why he ran off. "I got nervous...cuz the girl that I like was there..." Nino replied, still feeling a little nervous. "Can you tell me who she is? I promise I won't tell." Marinette smiled. Nino gave her a bouquet of pink roses and she was surprised. She understood what he meant. "Is it me?" she asked the shy boy. Nino nodded back. She felt a little sorry for him. "Nino I...this is really nice of you. But I like someone else. I-"

"It's okay. I knew you would say that. So I decided to like someone else. And it's...it's your best friend, Alya" he said nervously with a smile. Marinette was happy for him. "You can still keep the rose if you want."

"Yes I'll gladly keep it. Thanks Nino. So uhh...goodluck with Alya." Marinette said with a smile. "Goodluck to you as well. I hope that guy you like would like you back too. Though I think I already know who it is..." Nino replied back. "It's ma dude Adrien!" Nino added. Marinette looked down as she frowned. "He's with Chloe..."

"It's okay dudette! I'm sure he'll see your worth somehow." Nino said as he and his newly found friend, Marinette, head on back to class. with the bouquet still on her hand. "Ohhh...what's that girl?" Alya said sarcastically. "Oh this? Nino gave it to me. He confessed to me. But I told him I like someone else and stuff."

"Huh. I wonder who could it be?" Alya thought.

"Yeah...I wonder..."
