The Only Exception

"When I was younger I saw my daddy cry and curse at the wind...." 

It was now 5 in the morning and Jisoo was on top of the roof of the apartment building she was staying in. 

"He broke his own heart and I watched as he tried to reassemble it..." She continued, singing along to the faint music coming out of her speaker.

"And my momma swore that she would never let herself forget...." She watch as she sat close to the edge looking down at the busy streets of Seoul, looking back at the sky, she smiled. pretty.

"And that was the day that I promised I'd never sing of love if it does not exist...." 

She sighed as she sang the lyrics quietly, listening to every word. 

love does not exist.

Flashbacks from her childhood in Daegu came back. Her mom and dad fighting in the kitchen. alone in her room. playing with her piano. 

"But darling, you are the only exception....." 

"Hi baby, me and your mom have something to tell you.."

"What is it?" 

"Me and your dad are getting a divorce."

"A what?" 

"A... Divorce"

"Whats that?"

"Me and your dad are breaking up..."

"What? why.."

"Im sorry Ji, but you're to young to understand..."

"Maybe I know somewhere deep in my soul that love never lasts...." She continued.

"And we've got to find other ways to make it alone but keep a straight face" 

The Seoul's busy street full of the cars noise in the background.

"And I've always lived like this Keeping a comfortable distance..."

"Happy 14th Birthday Ji!"

"thanks mom."

"Your dad is coming to pick you up, get ready"

"You know, your mom told me that you're getting distant. Is there something wrong?"

"nope. theres nothing."

"Are you sure?"

"And up until now I had sworn to myself that I'm content with loneliness..."

"Im fine, dont worry about it"

"Because none of it was ever worth the risk...."

"If there is something wrong, you can tell me or your mom."

"Im fine."

"But you are the only exception..." She sang louder.

"You are the only exception..."

She looked back to see someone looking back at her. Singing the lyrics of the song.

"Excuse me? who are you?"

"Taehyung. mind if i sit with you?"

"N-no. Not at all"

"You know this song?"

"Yeah, my favorite." 

"Dance?"

"What?"

"Lets Dance."

He grabbed her hand and led her to the middle.

He place both of her hands on his shoulders while he place is on her hips.

"Is this ok?" He ask

"Yeah.." 

Both of them sway to the music in the background while lipsyncing the lyrics

I've got a tight grip on reality

"Yeah... 4 years ago?"

"Almost 5..."

And I'm on my way to believing

"Who knew we would end up married?" He chuckled as he held his wife.

"Or even dance the way we dance to this song 4 years ago at our special day."

Oh, and I'm on my way to believing

"You're my only exception Kim Jisoo"

"And you're mine. My only exception Kim Taehyung"

"Cheers to the newly wed couple! Mr and Mrs. Kim!" 

Claps and shouts were heard as Jennie raised a toast.

The couple just laughed while holding each other in their arms.

They were each others only exception.

He was Hers

She was His.
