JENNA'S POV
I woke up to the smell of eggs cooking. I opened my eyes to realize I was in the living room, on the couch. The light was on in the kitchen. I stood up and took my blanket to my room. I then grabbed a grey sports bra, a pair of black leggings, and an oversized light blue knit sweater. I took my clothes to the bathroom to get changed.
Before I threw the sweater on, I looked at myself standing in front of the mirror in my sports bra and leggings. I was too fat. Look at me. My thighs almost touched. I pulled the sweater over my head. Then I pulled out the scale that rested beside the sink. I stepped on it and read the number. 120 pounds. I sat on the floor, almost in tears. I pulled my knees to my chest and took a few deep breaths in order to regain composure. I put the scale away and did my makeup.
Concealer, full-coverage foundation, contour, highlight. Blend and add a touch of blush. Curl eyelashes, apply eyeliner and mascara. Shape and color eyebrows.
I slid my leopard print, plastic frame glasses on my face. I looked over my appearance quickly, then left the bathroom. I went into the kitchen where Aunt May was scrambling eggs.
"Morning." I greeted. Aunt May turned around.
"Good morning, Jenna. Did you sleep well?" She asked.
"Yeah. I have to get to school early so that I can meet up with my partner to go over our presentation one last time before we present it." I said. That was a lie. We did have to present it in class today, but we were not meeting up to rehearse.
"Do you want to take some toast with you?" Aunt May asked.
"Yeah, that would be great. Thanks." I smiled, taking a piece of buttered toast off a small plate that held four or five pieces. I grabbed the jar of strawberry jelly out of the fridge ad spread some on my toast. I ran back to my room, grabbed my backpack, threw on some zebra striped crocs, and walked out the door.
"Bye, May." I called, then shut the door.
I walked to school. I knew that because I left early that I would have enough time to walk. I could burn calories and make it to school on time. I tossed my toast into a trash can and started to walk.
I went to the library when I got there, trying to make it look like I had been there the whole time. I walked in through the school's side doors since they are right next to the library entrance. Then I ducked in and crossed through over to the main library entrance that is closer to the main entrance of the school. I knew that when I walked out, Peter would be able to see me from his locker. I walked over to my brother.
"Hey." I greeted. Peter turned around.
"Hey. We are going over to the Tower after school, so meet me here." Peter told me.
"What?" I asked in disbelief. I couldn't go to the Tower. How was I supposed to skip meals there?
"You already have everything you need over there. You don't need to pack anything. Stop stressing." Peter said.
"I'm not stressing!" I protested. Peter pointed to my hands, which were playing with one of the rubber bands I keep on my wrist.
"What?" I ask.
"You always play with your hair band when you are nervous." Peter said. I really need to keep myself better in check. I open my mouth to defend myself, but before I can do so, the bell rang. I guess you could say I was saved by the bell.
"Time for class, I gotta go. See you at lunch?" I say. Peter shrugs.
"If you want to eat with us." He says
