Smoke. I stared in disbelief as I traced the contours of the things sticking out of my back. They looked solid when I focused on them in the mirror but as I roamed her gaze they became incorporeal and seemed to snake around in the confines of their shape. Which was almost like a bird and a bat at the same time only there was no leather or feathers. Just shadows of smoke.

"What is happening to me?" I asked Mizore as she came in.

"I have absolutely no clue." She whispered still staring. The wings had three long finger-like bones so to speak that stretches out and down far longer than her other wings which were around three meters. These were an easy four and a half, the wings seemed to pull the light into them as if sucking the life out of everything. I quickly put them away fearing that exact thing, they vanished in a void of shadow. I turned around and faced her and said,"I need to go back now, thank you Mizore."

She blushed a little and said, "Don't mention it, and call me Re that is my nickname." I smiled and walked over to her and whispered that name in her ear. She shivered and then drew away.

"Shouldn't you be going?" She said drawing her arms around herself.

I sighed and nodded, disappointed because I had to leave this gorgeous girl all alone. She walked with me to the door and I jumped when finding out Dylan was on the other side of it, hand prepared to open it. He was taken aback for a second then composed himself.
"Ruby, I know you don't want to go back there. I don't want you to go back there, but it's the last place the Angels would think to check." He looked at me with troubled eyes, full of concern and another unidentifiable emotion.
"I'll go with you guys, she did come to me after all. I think I should at least walk her back." Mizore spoke up taking my hand. I smiled at her and squeezed, comforted by her. Dylan glanced at it then turned away. Was that jealousy?
"Let's hurry back." He says without turning around. He opened his wings and took off into the sky.
