Rantaro POV:

I have this girlfriend that's had a lot of trauma.

Her home life, she's not confident enough to tell me, but I want to comfort her as much as I can.

Though she has anxiety about me going place without her. She's just worried about me, that's all.

Y/N...is incredibly sweet and shy...and I love her a lot. She's adorable most of the times when she's flustered. Or smiling.

Or when she's unintentionally making my heart melt.

All I know is that she's a great girlfriend that's always worrying about me.

"H-hey Rantaro. You might wanna be careful..." Y/N suggested while we were on the road.

I held her hand to reassure her as much as I could.

She looked up at me with worried glossy eyes.

"It's ok." I whispered to Y/N. I hoped she would be less tense, but she just smiled at me slightly.

The light turned green. It was winter and it was snowing. The road had been cleared of snow so there shouldn't be any accidents.

It's things like this that make Y/N stress out honestly, but she knows I don't like to use a car.

We walked across the road carefully but quickly.

The sign had shown red.

But there was a truck that skidded across the road since there was ice.

The wheels had slipped.

Y/N had shoved me onto the pavement on the other side.

She's almost made it, but...

The front part of the truck hit her hard and flew her onto the pavement.

The shock had set in. Almost like slow motion.

I scrambled up and went towards her and checked her pulse.

There was blood pouring out of her head. There was a pulse but it was fading fast.

What could I do?
What could I do to save her?

I thought this while on the phone to 911, calling an ambulance.

I wanted to hold Y/N so badly, but it was bad to move people like-

"T-taro...? A-are...you..ok-ay...?" Y/N barely managed to get that out, and it was so faint I almost didn't hear it.

The sirens, the snowfall, the blood, the truck, it was all so overwhelming.

But I couldn't pass out now, not when she just saved me.

I tried my hardest not to cry, I had to stay strong when I told the ambulance team what happened.

I went in there with her, I couldn't leave Y/N knowing that she did that for me.

They said that the wounds involved a few of her ribs being broken.

Her parents got there and I explained everything.

She was still conscious so she probably felt a lot of pain.

Once her heart had stopped though, the doctors tried to restart it.

But, after 5, they decided that she had died.

It was my fault, right? She's saved me and got hit. She even died in pain.

She even died caring about me...!

You didn't deserve that Y/N.

You deserved...so much better...

"Hey Taro..." My girlfriend snuck up behind me while I was in the kitchen.

"Yeah..?"

"I love you. Don't blame yourself ok? I don't think it was anyone's fault. I'll always protect you."

I hugged her tightly.

"I love you too. I'm so glad your here, Y/N."

In turns out that she was in a comatose state, but her heart had stopped temporarily to get more blood. And the doctors used that to rejuvenate her heart rate. (Go with it cos ✨ wattpad logic ✨)

I'm so happy...
