Chapter seven

"How far along are we "

" not long , half a day probably , that is if we don't run into any trouble " he says as draws in a breath , I was far away from home , I should feel scared but I felt safe and ready , for what exactly I don't know , but I trusted the general and I hoped that I would live long enough to see the eclipse which was exactly a month away .

"will we be able to witness the eclipse ?" I ask him

"Yes, of course , the eclipse is a sacred tradition amongst fae , witches ,vampires ,werewolves alike, we are not that cruel , it's the only night where all species are in peace and celebrating , no killing , no hatred just peace ."

"do you think there will ever be peace in Perdita " I ask him looking ahead in grief

"let's hope so "

"wait stop , do you hear that ?" I stop my horse and the general stops too

"screams" he says so quietly that I almost didn't hear him he gives his horse a little nudge and starts moving towards the screams "wait fenrick , we don't know what in there" I call you to him but he simply ignores me

"Fenrick " I whisper angrily at him " I swear to god he is worse than women "I mumble to myself as I follow him .

My eyes land on his stiff figure and then at the scene before me

"good lord" he says as he unmouts his horse and I do the same following him in the burning village " we have to scout the area for survivors " I tell him as I stop next to a burning house

"mommy , mommy wake up " a little voice calls out in the midst of chaos and me and fenrick immediately start running towards the source of the voice

There on the ground was a four year old holding his mothers head , not knowing that she's long gone

"Fenrick " his name coming out as a gasp , all around the kid there were bodies of grown men and women laying in their own blood , it seemed that something had killed them and it had not been the fire .

"take care of him general , i'll go look to see if there's more survivors " I tell him in a voice I did not recognize and he just nods at me without taking his eyes off the little boy

There was nothing left , piles of bodies covered the streets , the little houses were all burned down and I couldn't sense the living .

"did you find anyone ?" fenrick sneaks up behind me and says but I just sigh " no , the little boy is the only survivor " I say and turn around to face him but I am surprised as I see him holding the little boy in his arms

"we need to keep moving , we need to alert the king " he says as he heads towards the horses and puts the little boy in front of him "the we better hurry , because whatever did this thing is headed towards the capital next " I tell him as I mount my horse " how do you know"curiosity leaked from his eyes .

"I can smell the wretched thing "I tell him as I start moving towards the direction of the capital .

A few hours later

"open the gates " fenrick shouts at the guard who just nods his head at him

Slowly the gates open and in front of us stands a beautiful woman

"Rick "she says in a melodic voice" dora "he says as he leaves his horse and runs to her

"mommy" a little voice calls out , the little boy has awakened at last "hi sweetness " I say as lean closer to him "hi" he responds in a small voice that you could have missed it if you didn't strain your ears "what you name " I ask him "h-harry" he says with a cute smile "well harry i'm Enyo" I say as I lean even closer and mess his hair a little bit and he just gives me a toothless smile.

"General welcome home , the king requests your attendance alongside miss enyos immediately " a guard says and Fenrick just nods and leans to whisper something to the woman standing next to him .

"ready?" he asks me

"as i'll ever be " I reply as we head into the castle
