Trigger warning:gore, murder
There she stood before the Camp Redwood welcome sign. Cora had been hiking for a good 40 minutes trying to find it. Her car had broke down in the middle of the vacant road causing her to walk the rest of the way. She had been looking forward to coming here for a while. Her obsession with 'haunted' and abandoned places grew even more with every place she visited. The next stop, Camp Redwood.
There was a nice breeze coming through the trees making the hotness of the California heat not so bad. The sky was painted a beautiful pink and blue hue with the sun setting on the horizon. The sun was sure to go completely down soon leaving Cora in the complete darkness surrounded by empty woods, or at least what she thought was empty. She wore some baggier cuffed jeans with a black lace strapless shirt tucked into her jeans, and a jean jacket along with some black combat boots. Her hair was in a loose braid with some strands out framing her face perfectly.
"Here goes nothing." she sighed to herself and started walking towards all the run-down abandoned cabins. In the back of her mind she knew that she probably shouldn't be here so late at night, especially alone. She began exploring the cabins snapping some pictures in between. As she went to review the photo she just took there was a blonde girl in the background of the picture. Before she could process what she saw, a voice came from behind her.
"Who are you?" the woman asked, tilting her head slightly while playing with a few strands of her hair.
Startled, Cora jumped and quickly turned around coming face to face with a complete stranger. "Jesus!" Cora gasped. "You scared the shit out of me! Uh I'm Cora. Who the hell are you?"
"Sorry about that. We just don't get many visitors anymore these days. I'm Montana by the way." The blonde girl replied with a grin on her face."What are you doing here all alone at night? These woods can be very dangerous. People go missing here all the time. You do know that right?" Montana explained, adding a hint of worry to her voice.
"To be honest I don't really know. I'm attracted to these types of places and wanted to see this mystery camp for myself."
The last sliver of sun was now gone and the only sources of light were the old wooden lamps lit outside, a raggedy light bulb in the cabin and Cora's flashlight. A tall man with a mustache sitting on his upper lip suddenly came bursting through the door.
Montana turned her head and a smile stretched across her face "Oh hey babe. This is my boyfriend Trevor, Trevor this is Cora." He gave a friendly smirk to Cora in which she returned a wave back.
"Montana we have a problem...Richard kinda um, escaped." The panic in his voice was enough to make Cora's heart start beating a bit faster and she didn't even know who this Richard guy was.
"What the fuck do you mean he escaped?!" Montana boomed.
"I-I don't know. Someone didn't communicate properly so no one was there doing their shift.".
A puzzled look soon appeared on Cora's face. "I'm sorry, who's Richard?"Montana simply replied "He was a horrible man. A serial killer back in the 80s nicknamed the night stalker. We've been taking turns watching him making sure he doesn't leave this shit hole of a place. He deserves to rot in hell and suffer here just like the rest of us."
"Holy shit! The Richard Ramirez? And you're telling me he fucking escaped?!" Cora cursed.
When they went outside a small group of people were already huddled up talking.
"Cora, these are some of my friends that live here too. There's Ray, Xavier, Bertie and Chet."
Xavier soon spoke up. "Richard already killed some of the others.""Alright we need to get to him before he kills anyone else. Go in pairs and look for him. I'll walk Cora out." Montana responded.
Just like that everyone split up and went looking for the killer in the huge camp. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Montana and Cora were only a couple feet away from the exit when a sudden deep voice belted out from behind them. "Have you missed me darling?". Before Montana could even say anything the tall slender man sliced her throat. Cora was in shock, her heart was racing and she felt her knees go weak. Blood squirted out of Montana's neck as she gasped for air, eventually collapsing to the ground and dying. Her mind kept telling her 'go, run, run as fast as you can!'. But she couldn't, her legs would not move. All she could do was stare at the mysterious man. He was about 6'1 with curly black hair stopping just at his shoulders. His eyes were a piercing dark brown looking almost black. He wore a black button up that fitted his body perfectly accentuating his slight abs accompanied by a leather jacket, denim black jeans, a belt, and a pair of black sneakers. His lips curled up into a smirk. Her eyes wandered all over him but before she could do or say anything black smoke started to surround her. Her throat was being suffocated and her ears were filled with whispers 'Satan Satan Satan'. Everything went black.
