Jikari sighed, shivering a bit as he walked down the road. He noticed how it began to snow. Jikari always loved the snow, he found it so pretty, even though it was just piles of frozen water. Sure, he was cold, but he didn't mind it. He kicked at the rocks in the road he walked along, smiling to himself.
It was probably around 1 in the morning, he had finished work for the night and decided to wander around. Jikari didn't really like going home, especially this late at night. It's not like his parents minded, his checks were mailed home, so he didn't really have to see them. It's not like jikari wanted to see them anyway, they'd probably send him to work if he came home anyway. He didn't have a ton of jobs, just one he went to a few days a week, normally ending around midnight. Considering Jikari didn't want to go home, he would spend the night wandering around. He didn't get much sleep this way, but he preferred it over going home.
Jikari tended to run off caffeine, how he was awake during the day, he didn't know. Though on nights where he needed sleep he would walk to the outskirts of the city he lived. Admiring the abandoned buildings, he tended to sleep in one typically one with a few stories. It made Jikari feel safer knowing there was distance between him in his most vulnerable state and people who would walk along the streets outside. Thankfully, no one really came down those streets. On occasion he would head home, but wouldn't get much sleep, always wanting to wake up before his parents did.
Jikaris parents had workaholic tendencies, which they passed onto Jikari, kei however was unaffected. Jikari didn't exactly like his habits of feeling like he was wasting time if he wasn't working. But he tended to deal with it, he found peace in not being at home. His parents tended to pressure him to work even more than he already did, so he didn't like being there
So walks along empty roads in the early hours of the morning were something Jikari enjoyed.
Something he didn't expect to enjoy was the company of someone. He never had companionship or just someone to talk to.
But now he had.
Sure it might've been with someone who seemed to be a complete mystery to him. But he loved the boys' company regardless. They had conversations about anything and everything. He felt so alive with Edith. Jikari felt so incredibly comfortable with Edith, he couldn't explain how or why he felt this way, but he did.
Jikari was never one to think about soulmates, he didn't understand the concept of them. He didn't feel like researching it, but he subconsciously wondered why he had such a connection to Edith. He didn't feel empty without Edith, but Edith seemed to light up his world. He felt like a best friend, a shoulder Jikari could cry on.
Someone Jikari could trust not to hurt him. Someone Jikari could fall in love with.
And he did.
