Unlike the day before today carried a slight gust of wind, just enough to soothe those burns. It was welcoming and quite the relief to see the weather calm down. You take in a deep breath, feeling the clean air cleanse your lungs.
Refreshing.
However, you had a task to do and no idea where to start. Maybe your the only one who saw the light. How would you go about this? Asking some people was the obvious conclusion but the question laid upon HOW to ask.
Do you come out and say it as it is?
Do you talk first then ease into the question or do you find someone and attempt to ask them but then get shy and leave. Knowing you that last one seemed plausible.
You sigh, sitting on a old and chipped wooden bench that lay under a tall tree, cherry blossoms falling into your lap with such grace they would put a professional ballet dancer to shame. The sun wasn't too harsh and the added shade was cooling so you take out your phone and bring up the map application in this rare moment of peace. Times like this were very rare so why not take a second to stop and smell the roses as it were.
" So my place is there, meaning if the light fell there it should have landed ...." You look over your shoulder and past the tree into the vast forest behind your town. You felt your stomach sink, heart almost beating out your chest.
That place was almost some sort of legend. The " Forest Of Shadows " everyone called it. One year a tourist went into the dark depths and never came back. When the authorities investigated all they found was the man's belongings and a trail of what seemed like gold dust, suddenly ending in the middle of the forest.
That place was bad news but if you didn't do this then it would eat away at you, probably cause lack of sleep until you had an answer. You had to do this, ignore that gut feeling and push the sickness back down into your stomach. Now was not the time to be scared. Answers awaited.
You stand to your feet, placing your phone back into your pocket. You begin to sweat, not from the heat but from the idea of what you were about to do. Your legs began to buckle and tremble as you walked.
Closer and closer.
People watched you with worry, someome even asking if you were ok, commenting on how pale you looked. You would nod, nervously wave and carry on. You had a right to fear. Nobody knew what was in that place as even as you stood at the forest's wooden opening you smile nervously into the darkness, mumbling under your breath.
" What kind of idiot are you (Y/N)? "
