Time always seemed to pass quickly when you were asleep. The world was such a mess, your dreams giving you a sense a freedom. There was no death if you so wished and nobody to go against you. It was perfect but as soon as it arrives it begins to fade, waking up with a rather loud audible snort as your eyes adjust to the blinding light that was now seeping through the window. You look over to your apartment door, seeing the newspaper on the welcome matt. Even without looking at the clock you could tell it was late, the paper only ever arriving at 11am. With a deep stretch you make your way over to the door, picking up the paper in your hands. You glance over the headline, seemed like something had once again gone down in Gravity Falls, the world's center for the weird.
" Red skies have the residents of Gravity Falls, Oregon in panic "
What a headline! Perhaps it was some strange global phanomanon like the heat your town was experiencing. Regardless, you set aside the newspaper and pour (F/D) into your nearby ( F/C) sports bottle, whistling gently as you did. Your (H/C) hair swayed in the gentle breeze that had somehow appeared overnight. It was a warm breeze, hot yet cold.
Humid yet cool. It was unusual but you tried to ignore it. You had things to do.
Your mind had been riddled with thoughts about the yellow light, it practically inviting itself into your dreams. You had to know more and your curiosity wouldn't be quenched without an answer, no matter how trivial it was.
You pack up a few extra drinks for good measure, shoving a cool fruit salad into your shoulder bag. You point around the room, checking things off your mental checklist before you leave.
Food, check.
Drink, check.
Phone, check.
Portable fan........fan......
Dammit.
You run into the back room, frantically searching for that blessed fan that could save you from burning into a human sized crisp. You pull your sheets back, looking around as sweat of heat and panic ran down your skin.
" Where the hell? " You smile triumphantly, finding the fan in a nearby drawer. You almost practically hug the fan, so happy to see it. These past few weeks you had developed a sort of relationship with the object. Giving it a pet name like some golfers do their clubs. It may have seemed crazy to some, completely normal to you.
" There you are Steve! My special little fan friend! " You shove Steve into your pocket, heading towards the door once again. Free of distractions you finally leave your apartment, locking the door gently behind. It was time to find out what that light was and if you got some excerise in the process then so be it. Nothing was going to stop you.
