Chapter One:
Well that is how it was told back then, to make children fearful of the 'big bad wolf'. Even if it was simple folklore, this still made people stereotype that all wolves are dangerous and rabid. Little did the human's know that most of their population is residing on a pack's territory and that their neighbor, classmate, roommate, colleague and even friend might be werewolves?
A packs duty is to insure the safety of all its inhabitants, humans and werewolf's alike. Certain rules are kept for the wellbeing of everyone in the territory.
Every pack has an Alpha. This was the highest position within a packs rank. The Alpha's second in command is called a Beta. Then if necessary it will have a third in command. Of course depending on the vastness of a territory. The elders of the pack were always available to give advice to their Alpha when difficult decisions have to be made. Then there's me, the Omega of the pack. Wolves like me were also called runts and were usually thought of as useless and a waste of space.
Being one of the Alpha's children, everyone in the pack secretly wondered on why their Alpha had a runt child. My parents however didn't care because they loved me nevertheless. My older brother, Jack made sure that was never harmed physically or emotionally in the whole duration of my life.
A lot of things changed after my father had stepped down. My brother immediately took the title of Alpha and no one dared to challenge him for the position. Soon after he chose me to be his Beta despite my size and reluctant excuses that I of course give him daily. My life completely turned upside down.
Oh- moving on. Well aside from being a werewolf, I'm just like any ordinary teenager out there. Most of the time young werewolves with a 'title' would home study. Being busy with their duty to the pack, studies become second priority.
Feeling my claws dig into the soft ground under me as I run at top speed along the forest floor. 'Jack I'm going to check out the south boarder' I said to my older brother through mind link.
'Alright but be careful and call out when you find something' jack answered.
'Yes big brother'
Every time my paws would hit the moist soft ground it would make a muffled thud. Feeling the wind in my face I couldn't help but feel extremely relaxed. Despite the high alert we had because of the increasing amounts of stray rouges that were trespassing on the pack lands.
'Do you want Danny to accompany you on your rounds?' my brother, as usual interrupts my quiet time.
'Brother...' I said annoyed
'Alright alright, just be careful and don't you dare blo-' Ha! Too late brother. I said to myself as I blocked him out.
As I got to the pack territories boundary I stood alert. I raised my muzzle into the air as I closed my eyes. I inhaled deeply trying to seek out a familiar scent. The smell of sandalwood, blue iris and a very alluring musky scent that always enticed and calmed my wolf all at the same time but it was nowhere to be detected.
My rounds were scheduled every other day and from when I was sixteen which was two years ago, I have always smelled that scent but never dared to cross the boundary. As always a blue iris was set on a moss covered rock that happens to be on the other side of the territory. I shifted myself to my human form and looked around before I bent down smiling. Admiring the beautiful blue iris that was before me, I looked to my left and right before reaching my hand out to reach for the flower. A rustle to my north stopped me from doing so, I withdrew my hand and shifted back into my wolf and ran.
