Chapter 8:
Revenge-
It was now the only thing running through my mind as I darted along the Crimson Oak pack territory. I know the consequences of this choice I am making. How it will begin to how it will end…. how my life would end. I know the difficulty I will be faced with in finding the moron who slaughtered my family but I couldn’t just sit around and let my grief consume me… I have to get revenge, I needed it. It has probably been the only thing running through my mind for the past few days… well except finding my brother and… William. He was the only calm in the storm I was going through but I knew I couldn’t tell him about all this. It wasn’t only because I know he would stop me… no- it’s because I have to do this alone- for my family, my parents, the pack and myself.
Though I realize that grief is an excruciatingly painful process of losing someone, who once had held a firm position in your heart… it wasn’t something that anybody anticipates for- but sooner or later we will all be forced into it. Life is like that- and it won’t matter how high your status in life is, how much money you have or even how many people love you- because in the end, the world and everyone in it will keep moving forward even after you’re passing.
It will take me about five minutes more before I reach the fourteen kilometer mark- it was hard to find my bearings since the scene was still unfamiliar. I try to keep myself busy from distracting thoughts by letting my eyes wonder through the vast Crimson Oak forest. The bright red, light orange and gloomy yellow colored leaves covered the fall themed forest floor. As my eyes drifted upward, they were instantly blinded by the streams of light that flooded through the small spaces that the huge oak tree’s allowed. If winds were strong enough they would be able to move the huge branches of the oak tree’s, causing its leaves to drift magically along the wind before falling to the earth.
I have now reached the fourteen kilometer mark- I should be near the Aurora Cove boarder by now. The thought alone made me nervous… I could practically hear my heart pounding in my ears.
The honest truth is… that I am scared- not of death or what my fate would be after this…. but the thought of losing my mate before I even got to know who he really was and why he was made for me. Even before we left our mate, both my wolf and I were already missing him…. maybe it was because we both knew that we might not make it after this kamikaze and find Jack mission. That’s why we forced ourselves to push aside the grief to be able to enjoy William’s presence before… well you know.
I probably wouldn’t be able to do this if my wolf didn’t agree with me in this- well that was after I convinced her and after she saw what the rogues had done with our family. She was giving me strength and the courage to do this. We both needed this- this was the only way to release this grief we were feeling… we were in bloodlust for vengeance.
I could feel it now, the boarder- my wolf was warning me that we were close. A couple of seconds more and I felt my body pass through the boarder. I slowed down to a padding pace- I have to try and remain undetected, until I got close enough to the pack house.
My ears twitched back as rustling sounds came from behind me. I instantly shifted to my bare human form and pressed my back against a huge tree. As the rustling sounds came nearer with every second that passed- the beating of my heart increased just as quick.
I shut my eyes close as dreaded for the moment that they will find me. Just as I had closed my eyes the rustling stopped. I slowly released the breath that I subconsciously held in. I first gathered my hair into one shoulder before peeking into the side of the tree. I gripped held a tight grip against the tree with one hand for support before tilting my body for a peek but as soon as I moved-
