Chapter 2: Hello's and Goodbyes

 Chapter 2:

I turned around to see my little brother Bentley running blissfully towards me with both his arms wide open ready for the attack. He had a huge smile on his face as he jumped on me. His short hair looked like it was on fire as the suns warm rays hit his ginger locks. His merry blue eyes looked at me joyously as I bent down to meet his embrace.

“Did you miss me Ben?” I asked.

“Yes soooo much, so can we go play now. pleaseeeeeee?” he asks pleadingly as he bobbed himself up and down waiting for my answer.

“Sure! Would you like to play wolf?” I asked with the same enthusiasm.

“Hmm” Little Ben placed his tiny right hand on his chin as if he was thinking, I chuckled lightly waiting for his response “Alright but only if he can play with us too” Little Ben said pointing to Danny.

Ben looks at me with puppy dog eyes waiting for my answer. How can anybody even resist that? Smiling playfully I nod in agreement. I looked up to Danny and Ben did the same. Danny melted away as he looked at both of our puppy dog pouts.

Danny shook his head laughing “Of course” he said softly. 

“Jack, Dad were going out to play” I stood up and smiled waiting for their response.

Jack crossed his arms over his chest disapprovingly “I don’t think so” he said sternly.

“Danny will be with us, so please?” I pouted, waiting for his decision.

“Oh, come now Jack- let the children be” My dad said with a smile. He nodded, signaling for us to scurry before Jack could even argue.

I looked over at Jack who had a grumpy expression plastered on his face as he watched us leave. I smiled deviously before poking my tongue at him then making my hasty exit.  

Walking towards the clearing I felt Ben slow down his pace so I bend down to his eye level and ask “you tired little Ben?”

He lifted both his arms up before saying “Pick me up” wiggling his finger as he waited for me to carry him. As I was about to lift him up Danny touched my shoulder gently. 

“Let me” he said with a smile.

I look at Ben to see if it would be okay with him. He nodded with a cheerful smile on his face. Danny gave Ben a lift on his shoulders.

! Hi ho hi ho! Tan tan tararatan! Ben and I sang and hummed on the way to the clearing, throwing fists in the air trying to copy the seven dwarfs.

Danny kept chuckling as he watched and listened to me and Ben sing.

“What’s so funny?” I ask Danny, pouting but it was quickly fading and being replaced with a grin.

“You both are very entertaining” he said looking into my eyes. His eyes of light hazel brown captivated me. They look so dreamy.

“That’s a good thing right Ben?” I looked up at Bentley who was certainly enjoying the high point of view.

I place my hand above my eyebrows as I try to shield my eyes from the suns rays as I looked at Bentley.

Did I mention Danny was 6’1? And I was only 5’4? Well now you know. I told you I was a runt.
