City Brat"
The boy smirks, "see let the city girl go back home, where the brat belongs."
"I'm staying." The words come out of my mouth before I can fully process them. Why would I want to stay here?
The girl brushes the chocolate coloured hair from her face and smiles brightly.
She's going to get annoying fast.
"Good, my names Andromeda."
"Jade."
The boy scoffs, "yeah, we know." He scowls at me.
Andromeda rolls her eyes.
"That's Alex, unfortunately he's my brother."
"Unfortunately he's my brother." He mocks her.

The next morning there's still a bump on my head but I'm allowed out of the infirmary.
Andromeda took my hand and started dragging me around multiple corners until we got to a pair of doors.
I was quickly led outside, the sunshine hurt my eyes.
She bound a strip of fabric, at least that's what I assume it is, to a post, the ends to my hands. My heart races, am oohing to be mercilessly flauged? I heard a boy laughing, "ha! Look at her face! There's no way she gonna last a day!" The bleach blonde laughs to the others.

"Alright! Your all fifteen, you're all starting training. The object of this is to free yourself from the post. Go!"
The man at the front yells. His voice was deep, and he had cold black eyes along with black hair.
Most people try to yank upwards, but it doesn't work.
The material doesn't rip so easily.
I look at my jagged black nails, their long.
I can easily manoeuvre my small hands around so I dig my long sharp nails in and tear.
I'm free.
I suppose it's not fabric after all, fabric wouldn't tear so easily.
I'm the first one at the front.

After everyone else is free, they let us go back inside.
I've only stepped one foot back inside when I hear Andromeda scream, "Jade, you're in the city newspaper!"
I read the title and caption under my picture aloud.
"DEAD FATHER, DAUGHTER GOES MISSING.
Jonathan West was found dead in his kitchen, his daughter, Jadelyn West was nowhere near the scene. Chandler Knight, Alpha of the Knight pack says, "Yeah I bumped into her on the street, she looked like she was in a hurry. She reeked of impure blood, definitely werewolf and vampire."
"WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE."
My throat closes up, my heart is pounding, and surely they won't want me here if I'm a criminal. My father was right, I am worthless.
Andromeda opens her mouth, only to close it again. Her tanned hand grabs my own pale one.
She leads me up four flights of stairs, one elevator goes to the right and suddenly were in a house.
She led me to her home.
Before I go to sleep on the couch she whispers, "don't worry, you'll be safe as long as you aren't in the city."
That night my dreams are ridden with bloodshed.
I watched someone stab my father repeatedly, insanity gleaming in the man's chocolate eyes. He grins when he whispers, "Goodbye." The blood gushing out of the growing limp body isn't what bothers me, it's the fact that he has my name etched into his skin.
I wake up in a cold sweat, who was that man?
Why did I dream of it?
Was that really the man who murdered my father?
Andromeda leads me to the training area, she looks odd, wearing a white sundress where everyone else is darkly clothed.
This time were doing archery. Considering how horrid my aim usually is, I expect to be awful.
I find that I'm oddly good at it.
After everyone has hit the bull's-eye at least once the man, Adam tells us to stop.
"Alright now hand to hand combat, I don't care how hurt you get. Rules are no killing, no broken bones, and however highly unlikely it is, but no maiming. Jade, Malcolm, GO!" It's the blonde boy from before.
He punches my face, and my cheek stings red.
After my body is decorated with bruises, "Stop!" Adam puts a sword in my hands.
I'm good with it, I don't know how, considering in fencing at school we never got to lift the sword, but I am.
After one round I find that Malcolm is predictable.
Parry, duck, jump, cut him.
Soon I've twisted the blade out of his hand.
I position one sword behind his neck, if he's stupid enough to try to back up I would slit his throat. The other grazes his neck, he has no escape.
"Jade, you won this round." Adam tells me, a gleam in his eyes, perhaps he hates Malcolm.
