I climb out of the bed and run. To where, I'm not sure.
"Jade, where are you-" A white blur tries to ask me. But I don't stop to answer her, I need to get out of here.

It takes me a moment to realize I'm
back on the surface. I'm not safe there, I'm not safe in the city, I'm not safe anywhere. I wish my father had just killed me.
I suppose there was a bright side to the "A" carved into my collarbone, He left the black steel knife with me. I guess now I have some protection. I look up from the grass that I sat myself in to see a Monarch butterfly flutter towards me. I reach out and pluck it from the safety of the air.
I feel it before I register it. I'm ripping the wings off the orange and black butterfly that fluttered towards me.
