Chapter 5

KONGPOB

An old man and a 12-year-old kid are in the garden, picking up the weeds. After his mother's demise, Kongpob stopped playing with other kids and only study in his room. So, to make the other come out of the shell, Aroon Rojnapath, asked Kongpob to help him in the garden. Being a good kid, Kongpob instantly agreed.

Seeing that kid quietly working, Aroon started a conversation

"Kong?"

"Yes, Grandpa"

"Whom do you love the most?"

"What is the point of loving someone which will only bleed your heart? Love is a synonym for pain Grandpa. The only difference is we choose to get hurt by loving someone."

Aroon froze on his tracks when he heard it from a kid. He knew that the other is mature and smart compared to other kids but never in his wild dreams, he expected this. He thought that the other will say his father's or mother's name.

"Love is a beautiful feeling, Son" Kongpob smiled bitterly at the statement but chose to stay silent. He didn't want to offend his grandpa in any way. Internally, he was scared that the only person who is his friend currently, will leave him if he made the other angry.

Aroon understood that Kongpob is not convinced by looking at his facial expressions.

"One day, Arthit will come into your life and make you realize the true feeling of 'Love' and is not another word for pain" Aroon took his Grandson's name because Arthit is a lovely kid, and being a grown-up with family and love, he's sure, will make this kid experience all kind of feelings which Kongpob couldn't feel now.

"Who is Arthit?" Kongpob questioned with a twinkle in his eyes

"He's someone who will cherish you... and give a family of your own."

None will do that. Kongpob thought but stayed silent.

Kongpob jolted from the dream with an alarm sound. He rashly switched off the alarm and sat, leaning on the headboard, thinking about what he just dreamt of. He hates to admit but he believed that lie. Even after these many lonely years, he still hoped, one-day Arthit will come to him with a dazzling smile on his face.

His eyes fell on the file which is on the study table. He sighed and picked his phone to call the only person whom he trusts.

"Good morning P'Forth"

"Morning Kongpob. Is everything okay?"

"Yes. I... actually... "

"Kongpob, you know you can talk to me without any hesitation"

"I need your help" Kongpob heard a chuckle from the other end.

"I will come to your apartment before going to the office."

"Thanks, P'Forth"

"Don't mention it. Ah... Kongpob, how's your health?"

"I'm fine. Thanks", He hung up the call and started getting ready for the appointment.

Forth is head of Production department in Suthiluck industries. He's the only person whom he can trust blindly. When Forth tried to befriend him, he thought that the other is just doing it for any favor. But slowly, he saw the pain in his eyes, which reflected his own. He started investigating thoroughly and found out that Forth is an orphan and self-made person.

After the background check, he started opening up to him and trusting him for office matters. He included Forth as a Board member after seeing his credibility. He always asks Forth's opinion in-office decisions to be double sure which helped him a lot.

Technically, forth is a 'distant' family too. He is married to his cousin P'Beam, with whom he friended him in his childhood. But after his mother's demise, he too stopped talking to him and got himself new playmates.

"So, what can I do for you Kongpob?"

"Please check these documents" Kongpob handed over the file which he got from Jake. He can see the change of expressions in Forth's face but as usual, stayed silent.

"Arthit Rojnapath is our client, So I know he's a nice person"

"We have 'n' number of clients P'Forth. How can you be so sure about this particular person?" Kongpob asked while ignoring his increased heartbeats.

"Because I met this client. Even you know him. Remember, two years back, you asked me to help 'Sunshine Engineering' after you got to know about their loss from Tew, our Legal advisor. He's the one. I met him personally and believe me, he's too good." Unknown to him, a smile appeared on his face which soon, he masked it with a straight face

"What about Jake Rojnapath? Are they truly Aroon Grandpa's family?"

"Yes. He's family friends with Beam's family also. So, I met him personally a few times. From what I heard from Dad, they're kind people. But I don't want to take chances on this. Let me double check everything before coming back to you. I will also ask Tew to authenticate these documents. His father is the one who is dealing with this. I mean Mr. James is Tew's father. So, we will get accurate information. Don't worry"

"And keep this confidential. I don't want to alert Mr. James also. Ask him to be discreet in the entire process" Kongpob warned him to which Forth nodded.

When the clock strikes 10, he opened his laptop to start working. Soon, he got busy with continuous calls, asking his team members about the status of the works assigned. He divided his office timings very cleverly. Usually, in the software field, the 'developer' word is limited only until they become Team lead. Once the role changes to lead, the employee will be busy with delivery and Project Management tasks. But Kongpob didn't stop coding and manages Project Management, and coding simultaneously. He's the best in his field and is also awarded excellence awards every year. But he never received any awards personally. His manager used to receive and send it to Kongpob's apartment.

Not only in his job, but he also gives more than 100% in every task, he does. This is one of the reasons, his managers and team members like to work with him even after limited interactions. Thankfully, his team understands him and always supported him when required and Kongpob is thankful for that
