It could be true that it wasn't Kiera's worst day of school, but it didn't make her feel any better about getting embarrassed in front of her friends. 'Totally embarrassed' she would say, since her mother had yelled at her in front of a lot of the kids at school.

She could see people whispering about her when she stepped into her classroom. One boy even walked up to her to ask, but Angela made him go away. Thankfully.

By the time classes were over, they didn't remember any of that anymore, but Kiera still felt slightly irritated with the thought of her mother. She wished she could go home with Angela instead. Actually, she wished she could live with Angela. Angela's mother was so much nicer, much more fun. She wasn't always saying no for everything. Controlling her life every second.

Kiera was a little pleased when she looked around and didn't spot her mother's car yet. She could spend a little more time with Angela and Sarah before going home.
She didn't like when she saw Brandon running towards her though. He was another embarrassment. Always saying stupid things or making stupid questions.

"Where's mom?" Kiera rolled her eyes at her brother's question. It was the third time he'd asked and it wasn't like she had had an answer before.

"I don't know Brandon. Just sit down!" She snapped.

"She's taking too long." He whined and still didn't stop jumping around.

Kiera ignored him. She wished she had her phone to listen to music and tune him out. After a few minutes of waiting, she was the one starting to get restless while Brandon got bored. Her mother never took this long to pick them up.

Kiera waited for another 15 minutes before she grabbed her brother's hand and went back into the school. She was already mad at her mother for what happened this morning and now that she obviously forgot to pick them up Kiera was getting even more annoyed with her.

"Where are we going?" Brandon asked following his sister.

"To the principal's office. They need to call mom or dad so they can come pick us up."

"But mommy always picks us up." Brandon complained.

"Well maybe something came in between or mom's car got broken. Maybe daddy can come and pick us up." Kiera said, trying to find a reason why her mother wasn't there yet. This was very unusual for her mother. It happened of her arriving a few minutes late, but never an hour like today.

After Kiera gave her information to the principal's secretary, they tried to call her mother, but they weren't able to reach her.

"Could you call my father? He's still at work, but he will know what to do." Kiera said a little irritated because this was the first time that something like that happened. She had no idea what to do and how to get home. Of course, she could walk all the way to their house, but her parents wouldn't like that, especially if she and her brother had to walk on their own.

Shawn was still in his office, working on a new project that he started a few weeks ago. He was trying to fulfill his client's wishes the best way he could. Being an architect had been his dream since he was a little kid. He couldn't ask for a better job, because this was exactly what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

"Mr. Carter, Kiera's school is on the phone." His secretary, Jasmin, announced before transferring the call.

"Okay." He said a little confused, reaching for his phone.
